How are you enjoying the sun today?

I dragged myself out of bed at 10, hung the washing out and then cleaned the bathroom for an hour. It's still not perfect and I cannot motivate myself to mop the floor. I've got loads of other cleaning and house stuff to do and I just cannot be bothered. What's everyone doing today to get out and about in the beautiful weather?

No sun here (East Yorkshire coast). Sea fog all day, feels like drizzle.

BobnLen · 11/05/2024 15:38

We are on a touring caravan site, we have already had three nice days. DH is doing an event today so I am sitting outside reading and relaxing after a late night looking at northern lights

Sorry to be a wetblanket but I'm not particularly enjoying it.
Too warm to garden - gardening being my passion. And being on the Ayrshire coast anticipating an influx of anti social visitors into the town from Glasgow. Add the fact there is an Old Firm game kicking off shortly and it doesn't bode well.
So after a wee necessary trip into town I think I'll be watching the tennis from Rome for quite a bit of the day. Actually not a bad option because usually I'd be busy busy all day and now not being able to cope with warm weather gives a good excuse to be lazy.

I'm a bit of a wet blanket too. Despite the beautiful weather I'm feeling quite sad and not sure why. Off on holiday tomorrow so will pack later.

Washed and line dried two loads of laundry. Wine on the patio in a while.

MrsDoylesLastTeabag · 11/05/2024 15:40

I'm a summer-hater. I'm in my house, all windows closed, with the air conditioning set to 19 throughout.

Even so, I can hear several neighbours "enjoying the sun". If their "enjoying" noises can be heard in my detached, double-glazed, air-conditioned house, they are too fucking loud.

(Yes, I'm an absolutely miserable scrote!)

Funkyslippers · 11/05/2024 15:41

I took my friend's dog for a long walk wearing sandals for the first time this year and I now have blisters 😕. Since then as DD isn't here I've done a few chores like digging out summer clothes & putting winter clothes away (knowing my luck it will turn cold next week!), putting washing out in between sitting outside and reading my book in the peace & quiet. It's not overly hot here, just right ☺️

pharmachameleon · 11/05/2024 15:44

Up at 7 as DS had an athletics thing at school.
Did an early weights class.
Took the dog a walk.
Stripped the beds and have the sheets out drying.
Did some ironing.
Now weeding and regretting having a big garden. It bloody roasting!
DS now at ski lesson. When he returns I'll help him study for his tests starting on Monday.
We will hopefully have Ooni pizzas and perhaps a drink in the garden tonight. I'm rarely drink now and will see how I feel later.
Looking forward to going back to work on Monday for a rest!

I've just cut the grass and collapsing before heatstroke sets in. I do have a rose prosecco in the fridge whose hours may be numbered.

MarieAntoinetteQueenOfFrance · 11/05/2024 15:47

Been out hiking and will go to friends for BBQ soon.

How are you enjoying the sun today?
uncomfortablydumb53 · 11/05/2024 15:56

It's beautiful here in West Wilts
Washing drying outside, dog is snoozing underneath!
Just popped to Sainsbury's for a few bits. Most things I buy are on offer at the moment
Picked up a Vinted parcel from the locker( Linen dress £3!)
Now sat in the courtyard with an ice cold can of Coke Zero listening to Eric Clapton unplugged

Tommalot · 11/05/2024 15:56

Planted out corn, which has been growing well on my windowsill over the last few weeks, and been watering plants generally. It's so warm in the sun that even my tomato plants are wilting a little.

Just back from a long walk in the woods and paddle in the river with DDog. This is my favourite kind of weather - 24 degrees, sunny, gentle breeze.

dandelionseverywhere · 11/05/2024 16:03

I think I'm one of the most heat intolerant people on the planet and can't stand anything above 16 C. I'm miserable, grumpy, headachy, anxious, fuzzy headed, sweating, red in the face and can't do anything. I like a bit of sunshine, but not the heat.

EsmeShelby · 11/05/2024 16:05

Reading in the garden in the shade.

mrswhiplington · 11/05/2024 16:10

Just got back from Haworth, Yorkshire, where the Bronte sisters are from. Went on a whim and it was pretty quiet. It's usually really busy. Lovely and sunny, it's up in the hills so not too hot. Having a glass or two of red later and will try to stay awake to see the Northern lights.

Lorrymum · 11/05/2024 16:11

Beautiful day here in Hampshire.
Walked my little dog this morning without a jacket! Washed bedding, including mattress cover and all dried and back on bed. No need to hang it all around the house to dry.
Beer and sandwich in the garden and looking forward to wine, chocolate and Eurovision later.

MferMonsterSearchingForRedemption · 11/05/2024 16:14

I've been outside all day. I've been reading and I had a glass of wine. It's now very shady in my garden so I've lit a fire as I don't want to go in yet.

I could sit in this sun for hours and hours. So beautiful! My neighbours need to cut down their trees so I can get more sun though!

CissOff · 11/05/2024 16:15

Dog walking at 9.30am, did brunch when we got back, have been doing endless washing and reading my book between loads.

Have BBQ bits for later and just having a little half of cider, because why not? ☀️

YourNimblePeachTraybake · 11/05/2024 16:18

I've overdone the gardening and now lying in a darkened room with the fan on and w headache.

Justploddingonandon · 11/05/2024 16:18

Went to parkrun ( well more park walk for me), hung the washing up then sat in the garden and read a book until dd got bored of the trampoline ( so not long) but have now retreated inside as our garden has no shade ( need to find the pop up gazebo!) and it's too hot. DH has just lit the bbq.

LeonoraFlorence · 11/05/2024 16:19

Friends & kids plus BIL/SIL and DNs round for a bbq lunch. We’ve got paddling pool/slip n slide/water slide/sprinklers out and the garden is chaos! DDs are having the best time so it’s all worth it. I’m sitting with baby DN while she sleeps but I can still hear the shrieks and squeals from the garden. Blissful day!

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 11/05/2024 16:19

Took DS (14) to work for 8am, took the dog to the beach, picked DS up and took him to his volunteering for DofE, went to town to buy burgers and sausages from the butcher, picked DS up again, sunbathed in the garden with the dog, took DS to the golf course. Farrrrr to much driving for my liking today! We’re off to a friends’ Eurovision BBQ as soon as DH is ready but I’ll have to nip out to collect DS again when he’s finished his round.

Springchickenonion · 11/05/2024 16:20

Mowed and organised the garden this morning. It was well overdue!

Just finished decluttering the house. I have been doing it for 3 weeks bit by bit and have dine the major things. Then rearranged the office as I moved rooms around a few weeks ago but hadn't sorted that one out. Kids have been playing and I am pooped. Still need to make dinner

TheFairyCaravan · 11/05/2024 16:22

I've dried loads of washing on the line and spent the rest of day watching DH do something to the fence from my chair on the patio.

Caffeineneedednow · 11/05/2024 16:24

Went to the shops the morning to grab the couple bits I forgot to put on the online shop then went to the park with the kids on the way home. The kids have played in the garden for the vast majority of the day which has been nice. We o ly got the garden finished at the end of last summer/ the baby hated it. Said baby is now a toddler and loves it so was really good to see the 18 month old and 4 yo playing nicely out there

shams05 · 11/05/2024 16:25

Got back from work at 12 and just at home now, unfortunately I seem to be allergic to sunshine or something.
My skin breaks out in hives and then gets super itchy, face and hands are really bad so waiting for some shade before heading to the park for a teatime picnic.
I know I need to see the doctor but haven't got round to making an appointment. Plan to call them on Monday.
It's going to be wet apparently from tomorrow after 2 weeks of glorious sunshine so hoping it'll get a little better before the next sunny spell.
