Just read this on another AIBU thread. I've never seen any stats but I'm always very keen on getting facts into MN threads so I'm intrigued by this one.

I figured we could get a general idea here.

IABU - of course I am in the 60-75 age bracket
IANBU - nah I'm younger / older than that.

Early 50s here. Those 'stats' sound like nonsense to me.

Another in her 30’s here. Although feel I could be in my 60’s somedays!

And of course less people have commented but huge majority not in that age bracket.

I agree @Anonymouseposter I think that too. Based on the many 100s and 100s of threads/posts etc. I reckon around 75% of posters are 30-55. (That's just what I think, before someone comes at me, and asks if I'm a bit thick, or accuses me of 'making shit up.') 😆

Problem is though, you don't know how many are UNDER 60 and over 75 now! 😆

Should have worded it 'are you under 60 or over 60?' Could have a whole bunch of over 75s here!

There are loads of posters in their fifties with primary/secondary aged DCs.

You need a poll in chat where you can edit the options and have, say Under 21, 21-34, 35 - 50, 51-64, 65-75, over 75.

Globally, the number of violent crimes committed by men is apparently 80.4% according to one site and another has it pegged at between 85 and 90%.

Figures differ but they all say the vast majority of violent crimes globally are committed by men.

Statistics are numbers. They aren't sexist.
They're just the recorded figures.

No they can't. If they were in fact the stats.

But as far as I understand it, the issue here is not the age of posters but the fact the person making the age claim did not have the statistics, they did not have the actual figures. They did not have the evidence. They made a claim based not on facts but on their perception of posters responses and deciding how old they must be based on their views but without any evidence to verify that claim.

That is what's ageist.
