My s**d DH

Had our car stolen yesterday . Started filing claim with the insurance and realised my surname is missing 1 letter. Insurance was arranged by my DH back in March, he didn't show me anything, didn't not send me acknowledgement email or anything at the time. Car was on finance. Now I am frightened that because of the missing letter, my insurance is nil and void. Absolutely worried. Tell me this will be ok, please. DH and mine surname is the same. He has just made a mistake filling form.

Might not have been his mistake. Our insurance company had my date of birth wrong took 3 goes to get the correct one. Kept ending up with slightly different wrong versions of my date of birth. Didn't effect either of the car claims and the house insurance claim we had in that period of time. I doubt my stbxh got it wrong setting it up. I think the insurance company messed up.

There's no irony, MN bug removes the asterisks. So I'm writing S**d (stupid with 4 asterisks between S and d) and look how it turns out. Try it!

They have accepted your money to insure the car you specified. A typo won’t matter. It’s nothing that affects the risk and obviously not an attempt at fraud or deception.

It's not a bug really, it's the formatting for bold.

I have a fairly common middle name but it’s spelled with a double letter (thanks Godmother!) Companies always change it, thinking it’s a typo.

It’s a bug, the formatting for bold is an asterisk at the beginning and end of a word/sentence/paragraph, not in the middle.

Just to all those people asking why OP didn't arrange her own insurance - the OP says 'our car'. We have one car. I arrange the insurance. DH has never asked to check the paperwork nor do I feel the need to check it with him (bar the renewal price and whether anything has changed etc). I think it's perfectly reasonable for one person to take on the task for a shared asset

However, I don't think DH is stupid. Why did he arrange the insurance and why didn't you check it?

Do you not know how the asterisk thing works, OP? Each letter you remove from
a word needs it’s own asterisk, you don’t just stick in a couple of them to cover a whole word.

Secondly, do you know that using the asterisk thing is to cover swearing, in places where swearing wouldn’t be acceptable? So stupid would never be replaced with asterisks anyway. Why didn’t you just type the word stupid?
