Neighbour won't give me my parcel

I missed my parcel by about 5 minutes and it was delivered to my next door neighbour. As soon as I arrived home I went to knock on and he didn't answer. I tried again on the way to the school run and again, no answer.

Said neighbour is in because I could hear him banging around (they are loud people but that's a whole other issue) and I could see movement inside whilst I was standing waiting at the door.

I can't understand why he's not answering Confused it's not as if I'm not knocking quietly and he can't hear me.

How do I get the parcel off him? If I can't, is there actually anything I can do about it?!

Genuine question.
Why do posters continue to give advice to OPs who ( it is obvious) aren’t reading anymore 🤷‍♀️

Whats OTT about it? Op said they could hear their neighbour banging around, as proof they were in, hence my reply saying my neighbour would also hear me banging around but it was in the context of me getting changed, hence I cannot come to the door as not dressed.

Well I suppose I’m just surprised that people can hear you getting changed and moving around your home so loudly that you refer to it as banging. I don’t notice any noise from my neighbours unless they’re in the garden and even then it’s barely noticeable, and I’m pretty sure they don’t hear me in the house.

Do you always take umbrage when people ask you to clarify your posts?

soupfiend · 11/05/2024 22:30

I hadnt taken umbrage (my word by the way), just amazed you are so invested in this that you seem to want every detail clarified, If you really, really must know, my chest of drawers is up against the party wall and when I get changed I get changed trying to balance up against it and when I inevitably crash against it, it wobbles against the wall. I can also hear my neighbour moving furniture from time to time and stoking their fire, much like they probably hear us stoking theirs.

Please let me know if you need any more detail of the layout of my house.

Hope that really clarifies things for you

MillicentMaybe · 11/05/2024 22:33

You know something, I was concerned enough to ask if you had balance problems, I have tried to be understanding and polite, but there you go - taking umbrage yet again.

Manners cost nothing.

Yeah you just tell them that the parcel was delivered to the wrong address.

It amazes me that delivery companies just drop things off at random neighbours’ without prior agreement. They could be anyone.

Not your problem, ask for a refund.

Couldn't agree more . In fact , if there are quite a few pages and I see 0 Replies after clicking on See All , I tend to just skim the thread .

StormingNorman · 11/05/2024 23:17

If they are noisy it could be a hearing problem and they genuinely can’t hear you knocking.

Maybe they haven't read through all the posts?
