To ask the best places to live in Merseyside area?

We potentially may need to relocate to Merseyside area for my work. Would need to be able to commute to Liverpool city centre.

Aigburth has been suggested and Wallasey Village on the Wirral.

Would need a 3 bed and budget about £250,000.

Any suggestions?

South Liverpool: Childwall, Allerton, Mossley Hill, Aigburth is best but I think you’ll be priced out. A standard 3 bed semi around here starts around £300 (we sold our house for over £300 and it was a small 3 bed). You get far more for your money North I’m afraid, but it isn’t as nice and the amenities aren’t great. West Kirby, Hoylake on the Wirral are lovely but the commute isn’t great and you won’t get any more for your money.

Further out South Liverpool like Garston your money will go further.

Schools are an issue (boys secondary). Calderstones is a good school and very much on the up, but it’s catchment has narrowed considerably to a little over a mile (1.3) which is a very expensive area to buy in this part of the city.

It’s a straight easy train journey from hoylake or West Kirby into Liverpool city center !

I love liverpool it has character the people are great yes there are some tougher areas. The Wirral ( more so from centre towards Wales) is more scenic but less character and less good for things like theatres and arts (apart from Victorian and preraphaelite art). Depends what you want really and where your job is. I’ve lived in Oxton (Oxton village is nice ), Anfield , toxteth , Sefton park in the leafy suburbs and Allerton

And John Lennon went to calderstones (in the olden days when it had a different name )

You can only move to the Wirral if you are going to become a Tranmere supporter.

SWA!!

My Dad was a Tranmere fan. I asked my Mum what SWA stood for and she replied Super White Arseholes!, Grin

You’d get something decent for your money in Bebington, Bromborough or Eastham - all on the Merseyrail network. Some of the nicer parts like Eastham Village are a mile or so from a station, but the Merseyrail car parks are free, and you can park for free in Port Sunlight village if you need to. New Brighton is also worth a look.

There’s crime and antisocial behaviour here like anywhere, but I don’t think it’s anywhere near as bad as a PP made out. DSS has certainly roamed freely and never encountered any trouble.

Oh I hadn't considered up that way! Is it nice yeah?

Formby is lovely - it’s on my list of places to live when I move to Merseyside in a couple of years

Whathappensnow11 · 08/05/2024 21:46

We are also looking at relocating to Liverpool! Good luck on your search. It's so difficult narrowing down areas!

Shortbread49 · 08/05/2024 22:38

I’m from the Wirral didn’t know what SWA stood for (although am aware of FTM another footie one) that did make me laugh
