DS5 is keen to watch a movie...preferably a Disney one. However he has a super active imagination and finds a lot of stuff scary. He also doesn't like it when people raise voices or act cross.

  • Zog...too scary
  • Room on the Broom...dragon too scary!
  • Tried Frozen a few weeks ago and didn't make it past the shipwreck.
  • I tried Winnie the Pooh and he said it was boring 🙄

We've been okay with the Snail and the Whale, but he's hoping for a full film not a short adaptation, and tbh I'd quite like to be able to snuggle on the sofa for an hour or so!

Any suggestions on a nice lighthearted film we could watch together as a family? Or do you just support them through the scary bits? We've either avoided it or switched it off and done something else.

Toy story, Cars or Ice age?

Inside out? (And it's a nice way to open a conversation about emotions - including fear!)
Peter Rabbit movies
Cloudy with a chance of meatballs
Cars
The Lorax
Mitchell's vs the machines is kind of scary but in a totally ridiculous and very funny way - might be a good way in?
Similarly, hotel transylvania (lots of friendly, funny monsters)

I'm surprised he didn't like Winnie the Pooh - did you try the most recent one with John Cleese narrating (all my kids love this one) or the older Disney ones?

Sing is very popular in this house.

Minions? Very silly.
Sing, cars, toy story.
The lego movie
Old school Disney? Bambo, dumbo etc? They did have a bit of sadness, but the aim was to help kids handle the emotion.
Mary Poppins..
A bugs life?
