To not want to be told to get my ducks in a row

HollyCanDoAnything · 03/05/2024 21:37

Most of us don't have ducks. I don't have the space or the money to keep ducks. And even if i did, ducks just won't stay still for long enough to get a whole row of them.

Unless they are rubber ducks.

Or dead ducks.

I really like ducks.

DustyLee123 · 03/05/2024 21:38

Everyone should have their ducks in a row, just in case.

Redshoeblueshoe · 03/05/2024 21:38

I like ducks, especially with orange sauce

RandomButtons · 03/05/2024 21:39

I’ve put ducks in a row, they just buggered off again though.

LittleGreenDragons · 03/05/2024 21:39

Get some Hilda Ogden ducks. They stayed still for decades Grin

AnneLovesGilbert · 03/05/2024 21:39

Fair.

StuffLoriThangs · 03/05/2024 21:39

Aren’t the ducks that are in a row rubber or plastic, like at the shows? Hook a duck?

StuffLoriThangs · 03/05/2024 21:41

Apparently ducks really like to be fed peas. This was new information to me. So. You are welcome

Dareisayiseethesunshine · 03/05/2024 21:41

The gist of the advice is not to be disrespected ime ... I guarantee my life and that of my dc would be totally different if I had known wise mnwrs 25 years ago.

Autumn1990 · 03/05/2024 21:41

I think they must be plastic ducks impossible to get real ones to line up. They just sort of mill around

Mum2jenny · 03/05/2024 21:42

I love my ducks, but have never made them sit in a row

Octavia64 · 03/05/2024 21:42

Baby ducks line up behind their mum.

Sometimes, if you watch for long enough.

But my plastic ones won't stay in a row when we're in the bath.

OhHelloMiss · 03/05/2024 21:45

Ducks in a row can refer to lots of things though, not just monetary issues

But they weren't in a row. They were in an arc. Or a semi-parabola

Ponderingwindow · 03/05/2024 21:47

If you have chickens and there is a fox around, you have to get some ducks. if you don’t have any chickens, you can do whatever you want with the fox.

I no longer believe this. I took peas to my local park to feed to the ducks and they sneered at my offerings. They looked at me as if to say "what is this rot, where is our white bread?!" I was also recommended oats, I may try this next time.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 03/05/2024 21:52

All of our ducks were eaten by a fox. Then the bastard came back for chickens.

No ducks or chickens in a row or otherwise.

HollyCanDoAnything · 03/05/2024 21:53

@Ponderingwindow That'd get really expensive. You'd have to have a new batch of ducks every day .
And if your mind works the way mine does, this bit is a bit worrying - "you can do whatever you want with the fox."

I fed ducks peas once but they were frozen (the peas, not the ducks). I didn’t realise ducks preferred cooked peas 😂

HollyCanDoAnything · 03/05/2024 22:01

Do they though? Cooked? Or would they be ok with them just defrosted? And if you start to pander to their preferances are they going to insist on a sprig of mint?

They really do. The ducks and moorhens near me get a regular weekend pea treat from me - they can’t get enough of them!

😂 Defrosted will do, no extra cooking needed. They also like shredded lettuce.

Every day is, indeed, a school day

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 03/05/2024 22:18

I like my ducks crispy, in pancakes - and in a row surely means there are at least 3 so that's the kind I prefer.

I do often think it must be harder to get your ducks in a row when LTB these days as so much can be hidden in emails. All the kind of documents that people tell you to start gathering.

If someone wants to hide things in order to prevent getting ducks in a row then it must be so much easier to do this as it involves passwords, possible hidden or encrypted information.

It was all on paper when I LTB 15 years ago so the rowing up was more straightforward.
