I don't want to make this too specific because then it would be a TAAT, but to give a general example: OP starts a thread that says something like 'I went to an expensive seafood restaurant and I was served stale bread, warm wine and I think that one of the oysters was past its best. The staff were unhelpful and I think I should message their head office. How should I go about it'.
INVARIABLY, someone will come along and say 'I hate seafood. YABU to go to a seafood restaurant.' Then someone else will come along and say 'YABU to eat somewhere expensive in a COL crisis. And what about the situation in Gaza/Sudan/Ukraine/Wherever'.
It is so so annoying and people do it all the bloody time on here. AIBU to find this so annoying?

OP posts:

We need a diagram OP.

YABVVU - honestly, I haven’t bothered to read your post properly, or any of your replies, but wtf, LTB. Have you considered homeopathy, eating low carb, and getting a ring doorbell? You may want to consider stretching yourself to the limit so you can be in the catchment area for Harry St Styles Grammar (but do not under any circumstances allow DS to meet anyone else’s DD). Anyone have any recommendations for best holidays in the Bahamas - max £10k per person per day?

The audacity, surely you mean Kelsey Grammar!

I wish my Nan was still here to be able to give an opinion, even if it was irrelevant.

Oh this pisses me off so much!

OP - my mum abused and beat me throughout childhood and is now demanding I let her move in and become her carer. AIBU to say no?

Poster - what I wouldn't give to spend just one more day caring for my lovely mum! You'll regret this when she's gone.

Etc etc.

It happens all the time and is not just navel gazing drivel but presumably very hurtful to the OP who has not had a lovely relationship with their mum/whoever!

Wow. Some of us have never had a Nan. Check your fucking privilege.

😅

Neveralonewithaclone · 03/05/2024 14:17

Oooo smashing I love a peshwari nan.

chaticat · 03/05/2024 14:32

Why don't you have a glass of wine so you can't move your car?

SnowyPetals · 03/05/2024 14:43

ComfyButFrumpy · 03/05/2024 07:48

I thought dogs were colour blind?

That must be why his decision is irrelevant 😁

Nicelynicelyjohnson · 03/05/2024 14:55

People don't read the whole post. They skim it, see the word seafood, remember they don't like it and feel the need to share that with the world.
It annoys me if I start a thread on something specific - can anyone recommend a three bed apartment in Barcelona, and the answers vary from one beds in Madrid to Spain is very hot in July to climate change to I went to Barcelona (or was it Seville) 20 years ago and didn't like it.

Not much use to me, but perhaps interesting to other readers who did not know that Ninja now do an stacked airfryer, thus freeing up loads of valuable kitchen workstop space.

The colour teal is far superior and has a far wider range of uses than mustard. That's my opinion, don't even try to change my mind.

The colour mustard? Or just mustard?

MagpiePi · 03/05/2024 15:04

Have you not considered that the chef at the restaurant has ADHD/mental health issues? And I nearly died in a seafood restuarant becasue I'm allergic to shellfish, your post should have a trigger warning.

But seriously, just move house and get a different job.

PoachedScrambledBoiledFried · 03/05/2024 15:05

Ooo I really fancy some kumquat now

Nellieinthebarn · 03/05/2024 15:16

Ooh a stacked air fryer? can you post a link?

Also I like a good eye roll, its good to keep them flexible.

CranfordScones
Do you know how much I paid for a kumquat today?

Please keep your kumquat privilege to yourself! Don't you know that some people can only afford bog standard easy-peelers?

Speak for yourself. I'm in the north and we don't have fruit up here.

OMG, you eat FRUIT? Don't you know that stuff is laden with SUGAR? So unhealthy.

Google is your friend here.

(Unless you actually want a link?)

Francisflute · 03/05/2024 15:25

OP have you or have you not logged this with 111? There's no point engaging with you if you're refusing to take any action on the matter.

CulturalNomad · 03/05/2024 15:31

Is this a reverse, OP?

(Off to spend loads of time doing an advanced search to try to catch the OP out)

Your comment has triggered me - you should know that I once ate some unexpected mustard in a hotdog and now can never eat hotdogs again!

ViveLaOeuf · 03/05/2024 15:55

YABU to order any of that. Didn't you know it's all full of UPFs? Grim.

This isn’t a university dissertation, people just chat shit all day here. That’s literally what MN is for.

Though it may end up as part of a pHD project apparently ... #AstonScrapers

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 03/05/2024 16:52

Can you back this up with some links please OP.

frankentall · 03/05/2024 16:54

Aye, bastarding people with their opinions. Bastards they are.

EatCrow · 03/05/2024 16:57

Happened in my thread just now. I was complaining about an incompetent handyman, who I had tell to wash his hands after using the toilet. “Do your own job and don’t use the toilet”.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 03/05/2024 16:58

frankentall · 03/05/2024 16:54

Yep. Bastarding opinions, eh?

Happens in bastarding real life too. Unbelievable!
