Fed up of drivers damaging cars and driving away

And we have to pay for it.

Previous car, someone pushed a shopping trolley down the side of my car. Knew it was a trolley as lined up my trolley with the dent.

Last month, I went to Lidl and they share a car park with a DIY store. My usual parking area was full so parked up somewhere else. On collecting a trolley I looked up and saw a flat bed truck parked in front of me but straddling two bays.

Came back to my car. Van had gone and noticed there was my wing mirror’s mirror smashed on the ground and the surround on the back was damaged. From my guessing, the driver of the flat bed truck loaded up long pieces of wood onto it and hit my wing mirror (passenger)

In both instances i went to the supermarkets and DIY store and asked if CCTV covered the area my car was parked in. Nope! More likely they CBA looking.

Having the wing mirror replaced next week at a cost of £400! That’s the problem with modern cars with electric this and that - more money! Then I have to travel 23 miles to the dealership as one I bought my car 5.5 years ago about 8 min walk from home (2nd hand) no longer exists.

It would have been nice for these who damaged my cars to leave a phone number on the windscreen but no.

Know of others in a similar situation. Guessing not all realise that they have damaged other cars. 98% drive off without care.

Dont claim on my car insurance as I don’t want to be more penalised for it.

Dash cam that’s activated by impact, even when the car is parked.

We had someone open their car door onto our car causing damage. We were able to provide video footage from our dash cam, and our insurance company claimed back our excess from the other side in addition to the cost of repairs
