Rainy Day Film for Pre Schooler

ShareyBobbins · 02/05/2024 20:41

Before the hygge crew get on my backs, this film will be after muddy puddles tomorrow. I am having dental treatment and need a plan to entertain two pre schoolers. So I need a movie suitable for a pair of four year olds, somewhat sensitive.

Posting for traffic. Best ideas please. Bonus points for 2d or slow paced.

Tia

My 3 year old loves all 3 cars movies and Planes which follows a similar story. All available on Disney+

HearMeSnore · 02/05/2024 20:43

Paddington. Watched it with my DD on a rainy Sunday when she was 5. It will always be my favourite rainy day film.

Merrow · 02/05/2024 20:44

Paddington was a bit too dialogue heavy for my DS1 at 4, you may have more luck! He loved Cinderella because the mice were so silly, but the stepmother might be a bit scary.

LilianaVikavanovich · 02/05/2024 20:50

DS ( now 29 ) loved 101 Dalmatian’s , the original cartoon one
He used to ask to watch foundations

I only know the older films , ( bugs life , enchanted as well as Cinderella , sleeping beauty etc ) but Frozen surely appeals to every toddler

CCLCECSC · 02/05/2024 20:50

There are a number of Thomas the Tank engine feature length films available on Netflix and or Amazon.

ShareyBobbins · 02/05/2024 20:50

Thanks some good suggestions.

So d
Far my little one has watched:
Cinderella
Frozen
Peter Pan
Snow White
Sleeping Beauty
Tangled
Tinkerbell
Cars
The Snowman
The Tiger that Came to Tea
Mogs Christmas

The other boy is very anti Disney or 'girly' and mine is quite sensitive so need something in the middle.

Sing 2 was DDs favourite film for a few years, don't know if it counts as slow paced though 😂toy story? Older Disney films like sword in the stone or Peter pan. Depends on how sensitive really. There is a Peppa pig film (not suren if feature length though)

Frozen is a firm favourite but deemed too girly from playdate. Bugs life might be worth a shout I can't remember what's scary in it?

We love Moana here!

SnapdragonToadflax · 02/05/2024 20:54

The Octonauts long episodes/movies are good, I think there are three of varying lengths starting at 45 mins.

'I'm just a little bit, in the big blue sea...'

Keroppi · 02/05/2024 20:55

What about the Julia Donaldson films on iplayer? Gruffalo, Highway Rat etc
Shaun the Sheep Farmageddon is funny
Here Comes the Fire Engine/Tractor/Digger are about 20 mins and on YouTube

Partyatno10 · 02/05/2024 20:57

Sadly we don't have I player. We've seen some of the Julia Donaldson ones too. They are good.

Came to say the same about the Julia Donaldson adaptations. Each one is around 30mins long i think but if you watch on iplayer, you could run two together very easily. DD1 has been at home with D&V and these have been a lifesaver whilst I've been trying to get breastfeeding established with a 3week old newborn in the mix!

If he likes Cars, then definitely Cars 2 and Cars 3, and the two Planes Movies. Also Finding Nemo is a total classic.

SmallFY · 02/05/2024 21:00

The Tinkerbell movies are lovely.

Frozentoo · 02/05/2024 21:01

I would go for Planes / Planes fire and rescue - both great!
Peter rabbit went down well when mine were younger and caught both watching it again the other day - even though now both older!
Trolls is fun but may be a bit hyper?
Secret life of Pets?
Octonauts films
Animal-based options always good if trying to please boys and girls I reckon?

Frozentoo · 02/05/2024 21:02

And yes cars 2 and 3 if you've not seen. 3 much better than 2, and we've watched them A LOT!!

idreamoftoddlersleepytime · 02/05/2024 21:03

Mighty pups movie on paramount via prime

Librarybooker · 02/05/2024 21:04

Snow White, Paddington, My Neighbour Totoro

TwoTimesShoeShop · 02/05/2024 21:06

Lion king

SocksAndTheCity · 02/05/2024 21:06

Babe or Finding Nemo 😊

Avariceagain · 02/05/2024 21:07

I came on the reccomend the Julia Donaldson ones but I see you don't have iplayer. Not sure if they are on prime or netflix?

Paw patrol movie is awful imo but I've never met a 4 year old who doesn't love it!

hjrl · 02/05/2024 21:07

Sing and sing 2 here. Mine adore them and every other child that has visited will happily join in. Really good.
