Rainy Day Film for Pre Schooler

ShareyBobbins · 02/05/2024 20:41

Before the hygge crew get on my backs, this film will be after muddy puddles tomorrow. I am having dental treatment and need a plan to entertain two pre schoolers. So I need a movie suitable for a pair of four year olds, somewhat sensitive.

Posting for traffic. Best ideas please. Bonus points for 2d or slow paced.

Tia

I came on the reccomend the Julia Donaldson ones but I see you don't have iplayer. Not sure if they are on prime or netflix?

Paw patrol movie is awful imo but I've never met a 4 year old who doesn't love it!

My four year old is scared of dogs😂

Anyone seen Madagascar? Is it too scary for a sensitive four year old?

the incredibles, shrek, monsters inc (trying to think of more “boyish” ones. I love Peter rabbit and mine has always liked the night at the museum films but that might be more for 6+ ish.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 02/05/2024 21:14

Disney's Fantasia. Both my two LOVED it at that age and beyond...

We love Moana here!

Hands down the best thing about having my own kids is the excuse to stick Moana on!!!

Sadly we don't have I player. We've seen some of the Julia Donaldson ones too. They are good.

I Player is free. There are loads of ways to download it. What medium are you watching on?

H34th · 02/05/2024 21:23

Pooh Bear movies

Most popular movies are for six plus really. And if you have a sensitive child you do agree with the rating.

H34th · 02/05/2024 21:24

@Snugglemonkey it's 'free' if you pay a tv licence.

Festivemoose · 02/05/2024 21:24

Arrietty (Ghibli version of The Borrowers) is the perfect rainy day film. It’s beautiful and gentle, the pacing is just right and the music is dreamy and relaxing. My 4 year old loves it. It’s on Netflix.
There is a little bit of mild peril, but my DD is quite sensitive and she was okay with it.

Youcannotbeseriousreally · 02/05/2024 21:26

I absolutely love The Croods, I don’t know why it wasn’t more of a thing it’s genius!! We also really enjoyed the Sing movies

Hang on, you’re having dental treatment and then hosting a play date? Why?!

entirely misses point of thread

Flushed Away.
Absolutely fantastic (I think from the makers of Wallace and Gromit)

You need a TV licence to stream anything entertainment wise do you not?

We have one, but where I am from , noone does and it is not a big deal. I have always seen it as kind of voluntary and wondered why dh insists on one, because we don't watch live TV and we did not watch the BBC at all. Though now we have a toddler, so do.

Yellowhammer09 · 02/05/2024 21:30

Our pre-schoolers love to watch Robin Hood (Disney, 1973).

No streaming using a service like Netflix, Disney, all four is fine but any live tv or BBC is not. We don't pay a TV licence for various reasons so we don't watch live TV or get any BBC perks.
