my mum wanted to take me shopping for my birthday so have to arrange day for when dh can be in to look after dc.shes now asked if sunday is ok as my sister and her friend want to go too.am i being unreasonable to want it to be just my mum and myself?or am i being very childish?please be nice.i think mayme i am being unreasonable and childish.maybe it comes from being one of 4 and craving one on one time with a parent which makes me sound about 9.

if you don't see your Mum alone at al lthen i would tell her you want to see her alone. It's not childish IMO.

boobum · 02/04/2008 14:04

Not being childish atall IMO. X

hecate · 02/04/2008 14:07

No you are not being unreasonable. It is normal to want some one on one time with your mum. Maybe say so. Say you can do the shopping trip as well, but you'd love to have an hour to yourselves too. Why not arrange a time to meet up and then have your sis join the pair of you later on? Or do it a different day?

hecate made a good suggestion.

I don't think YABU at all - I'm a mum of 4 & sometimes I need 1 on 1 time with my DCs as well (not that I get it with the 2 teenagers sadly but I try - they have such busy lives)

cheesesarnie · 03/04/2008 14:28

yes good suggestion-just that i expect itd still cause upset!i have 3 and try to get one on one time with each.even if its just a quick story in one room with one while others are playing.
