Workplace collections

So this week two colleagues are leaving and another colleague is arranging a collection for both.
She has gone round each person asking if they want to contribute. Everyone who has contributed has put £5 each in for both leavers this is noted down on a envelope how much people give so everyone can see.
I am getting fed up of collections it feels like we have one at least once a month if not more.
I don't contribute but I don't want to come across as tight and be the only one not putting in every time which everyone can see as everyone else's name is on the envelope .
So far this year we have had 4 x birthday collections and now the 2 leaving collections.
AIBU to hate workplace collections and to feel awkward not contributing

Totally agree!

It's constant marathon fundraising, or fundraising for some charity or other.

If it's not those it's birthdays and leavers!

I won't see most of these people once I or they leave so don't contribute!

You can't have it all ways. Either put in or don't. Why do you care what others think?

YANBU. I just say I’m sorting my own out myself and then do nothing.

Sounds like my workplace always a collection for something!!

Kitkat1523 · 30/04/2024 21:33

I never contribute….would never want or expect any collection for me

PrincessTeaSet · 30/04/2024 21:39

Annoying. They should be anonymous. And only for leaving not birthdays

Lovinglife57 · 30/04/2024 21:42

They should be anonymous it’s confidential what and if you put in ..happens all the time at our work place
