A bit of a strange one, any helpful advice?
My lovely wonderful🙄neighbours have told traders/couple other neighbours that we are nosey. We know as we are good friends with the other neighbours😆 who said that they said that they do not like it when we open/close our windows if they are in their garden and think we are standing looking out at them, I mean that kind of explains the death looks we get whenever we happen to open or close our window but we do not wait until they are outside before we open them and why would we want to stand there and stare at them, we have a life!? But they have used this as an excuse to put up a huge frame thing covered in bright blue sheeting right up against our fence and its over 8 feet. We can obviously see this from our windows when we walk into a room, so much so that we leave the blinds half closed in our kitchen and one side of the curtains closed in the bedroom nearest to their side (we are semi detached).

A friend recently came round and asked why it was there and then said we should get some massive googly eyes and put them on our shed so that neighbours can see them and birds on sticks so they move in the wind just above their frame thing ....... The child in me is tempted ........but what does anyone on here think?

Well this thread is insane!

OP YANBU fgs, they sound like they think very highly of themselves and that everything you do simply must be because of them.

Did you miss the point of the thread that OP thinks her neighbours went to the expense of putting up a cover over their garden because of HER (rather than maybe because they want to), and is now thinking up ways to get back at them?

Given that the neighbours have been complaining around that OP was spying on them from her windows, I don't think OP is crazy to think the 8ft blue thing is indeed due to her.

Also, I think was making what is known as a "joke", about the petty revenge.

'We know as we are good friends with the other neighbours😆 who said that they said that they do not like it when we open/close our windows if they are in their garden and think we are standing looking out at them'

Your thoughts are skewed if you think these shit stirrers are the good neighbours.

You are being played.

How strange - I put out my new solar lights the other day and my next door neighbour commented on them the day after and how much she liked them. Never occurred to either of us that it was a problem.

I don't understand why you are having such a hard time on here. I open or close my windows at all time of the day, I didn't realise I should stick to a schedule so my neighbours could use their garden!

Anyhow, your neighbours would absolutely hate us, the kids spend ages looking at the windows and commenting on what they can see in the neighbours gardens 😂

Edited

I was beginning to think that maybe I had gotten the idea of windows wrong with alll the negative comments 😆

Oh my goodness thank you for actually understanding about the "petty" revenge being very tongue in cheek 😂

I honestly think the 'death stares' are probably just them looking round to see what the noise of the window opening was or who's there. And you'd have to be staring back to notice the difference either way
Don't overthink it and don't listen to gossip. The secret to having good neighbours is generally minding your own business Wink

Oh my god you've got the obtuse contrarians who will find any possible way for the OP to be in the wrong no matter what. Usually takes them a bit longer to swarm a thread with their nonsense.

Yes your neighbours sound bat shit and paranoid.

I know right, very quick to call me out - they are obviously very bored today!

@atheend did you get on with them before this?

@atheend did you get on with them before this?

When they first moved in we used to say hello to them if we saw them outside and put bins out/back when they were away (they asked if we could)

@atheend it’s a shame things have gone this way. Do you think it might be worth saying something light-hearted like ‘the bin man said you think we watch them and I was really surprised to hear - I hope that isn’t why you put the screen thing up because honestly we don’t - or not intentionally. Anyway, if you have any issues please talk to us’ (because ideally we’d all get on with our neighbours, right?) otherwise I guess you’re just (sadly) going to have to ignore them 😫

It'll be the ignoring as they do not even say hello anymore .....

Who cares OP. The only impact it has on your life is that they don't talk to you anymore. That's their choice. Don't open windows with sticks and so on. Carry on living your life as normal, and if anyone asks say they are paranoid and you couldn't give less of a shit what they do in their own home. What on earth do they think you would be so interested in? I'd assume you are not living next to a celebrity? It's actually quite weird and arrogant to think anyone would care.
