Crying and walking out of hairdresser

I don’t usually place much importance on haircuts but today’s was a big one. My first haircut post brain surgery. I was partially shaved for the operation so have rocked a very misshapen head for the past 8 months. Now I have multiple bolts holding my skull together, and I guess the psychological significance of getting to cut off all of this old hair that remains and starting afresh 8 months on felt big. I researched top hairdressers in my city and booked aiming to make it a special afternoon. I explained to them in advance the scaring and bolts issue. I arranged childcare.

After 4 hours, an hour of which was spent waiting for the hairdresser, and an hour waiting with wet hair while they forgot about me at the sinks… i just got quietly teary, realised I had to leave in order to cross the city and make it home to breastfeed my baby before bed…

now walking through the city with wet hair so disappointed. First world problems I know.

was I ABU for leaving?

Not in London but I hope it will be the nice outcome you deserve, OP

I think we should band together and produce some A4 stickers that say 'READ ABOUT THIS BUSINESS ON MUMSNET' with maybe a frowny face. Who's in? (Lighthearted post, I'm sure there would be copyright issues).

It would be a great ninja protest though...

Oh God, what a horrible horrible thing to happen.
You and your recovery from this incident are the most important thing. Eventually you may feel able to complain to the hairdresser's, leave bad reviews etc, but leave it for now. Be with people who care about you and understand how this feels, not people who have no clue and allowed it to happen.
I'm so sorry.
About the hair cut: why not ask around your friends for a hairdresser who is also a nice person; maybe somebody who could come to your house.

Where in london?

could you hop on Lizzy line to windsor?

Have the most nurturing loving salon who would move heaven and earth for you!

Tony and Guy in Westfield White City. Always very professional and friendly.

It’s 7 months later and I can’t hold off getting a haircut any longer. I’m hoping the next experience in a new salon will be a lot more positive. Any recommendations of a kind hairdresser in London, who can do natural-looking foils?

Did you ever hear back from the first salon? Glad you're not going back there.

I pay £15 for a wash, cut and blowdry in a tiny run down but brilliant salon, it suits me as I only ever get a trim.

@Calmondeck Did you have luck finding a nice salon?
