To think selling baby clothes on vinted isn't worth it?

Mostly selling supermarket branded clothes, so don't know if that's the problem.

Have tried the trick of putting it on holiday mode for a week, which didn't work. Photos are all good, have tried spotlighting the wardrobe. Have also tried selling individually for £1 each or selling as a bundle of same size. Barely anything sells! Bundle offers are all set to 50% for 3 items...Where on earth am I going wrong?

Are there just too many baby clothes on vinted?

Donate them. Give them to a charity shop, lots of people would be grateful.

Ponoka7 · 25/04/2024 07:07

Unless you are skint, I'd give them to charity tbh. It's only designer stuff I'd sell.

Elebag · 25/04/2024 07:07

Selling anything on vinted isn't really worth it IMO. I've had decent things sit there for months, for £1, and never sell.
Then when something does sell it's a nightmare finding a free inpost locker.

MayYourToastLandButterSideUp · 25/04/2024 07:08

Do a bundle and sell on FB market place maybe, or even eBay. I think you will have more luck than on Vinted.

Peonies12 · 25/04/2024 07:09

Same as selling adult clothes it’s only worth it for popular brands or more unique items, I’d never bother with supermarket brands

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/04/2024 07:10

Supermarket clothes are so cheap new, that adding postage doesn't make it worth buying preloved ones.

Even 10 years ago, it was only worth selling Boden etc back clothes. Some of the Scandinavian brands - not H&M (too cheap new).

alpinia · 25/04/2024 07:11

It's very worth it for any items with a brand name, even Zara level. But I'm not sure it's worth it for any supermarket brands unless the items are particularly cute or you are selling at the right time ie Xmas jumpers in November.

Thanks. Have already donated like 80% of it but kept hold of a few really nice coats and unworn bits thinking I'd try and sell them on. But just not shifting really 😬

The problem is the postage, by the time you’ve added that, might as well buy new or local charity shop. Unless a big bundle

Shame they're not shifting, because they're probably nice and not worn. Unfortunately, as pp said, it's the brand names people pay for.
Bundles on Facebook may work.

Tisfortired · 25/04/2024 07:13

I use Vinted a lot to buy and sell and agree Supermarket clothes hardly sell. People don’t want to buy a second hand Tesco dungaree set that with postage would cost the same as buying it new.

When buying I buy the brands I wouldn’t justify paying full price for, eg John Lewis, Zara, M&S, White Company. I only also sell the DCs clothes from more popular brands and anything from Primark, supermarkets etc I just donate to charity if in good condition.

thecatsthecats · 25/04/2024 07:16

I buy supermarket baby clothes on Vinted, but it has to be big bundles or as pp said, not worth it.

Are your bundles a minimum of 10 items? If not, I'm probably scrolling by, as I need at least 10 to guarantee I like 7/10 when it arrives, and for it to be cheaper/same price as 2x a supermarket three pack.

I'd actually much rather buy secondhand, but there's charity shops for that too, where I can see exactly what I'm getting.

LittleBooThang · 25/04/2024 07:19

YABU. I’ve sold loads and mine is mostly supermarket stuff.

Don't upload loads at once; they’ll sit there for months. You need to upload little and often to keep yourself fresh.

Yeah, I just thought even a tenner is a tenner I didn't have before. And I've already donated my moses basket, playmat, bouncy chair, 3 bin bags of clothes.....So didn't feel too bad about holding onto some to sell. But even the coats that cost £15 new aren't selling for £2 🤣🤣🤣🤣

When dd was little, buying and selling 2nd hand clothes wasn't a thing so I bought most of her stuff from charity shops.

If it had been around back then, I would have done the same while she was a baby or toddler as they grow out of things quickly and aren't interested in fashion.

I might have done it when she was older if she became interested in brands or wanted something special for a special occasion.

Jazzjazzyjulez · 25/04/2024 07:21

Supermarket stuff is so cheap that if you can afford it on vinted - you can probably afford to buy it new and have the benefit of no postage and a refund if it doesn't fit etc.

I sell loads on vinted but it is always higher stuff - lowest level is probably zara.

IsoldeWagner · 25/04/2024 07:22

It's not about feeling good or bad!
It's about trying to get rid of them, isn't it?
Someone else sold supermarket clothes, so maybe you've just been a bit unlucky.
People love a bargain, though.

Allthegoodnamesaregone1 · 25/04/2024 07:23

We're doing it and have made over £200 (three kids both boy and girls) so it's been worth it for us.
Have you tried going on the vinted Facebook pages to promote your page?

witmum · 25/04/2024 07:24

If I have lots of stuff that is supermarket brands I chuck a bundle on Facebook

Weirdly, some of it has has 0 views so for some reason. Don't know if I've been dropped down the algorithm because I've previously promoted it and now it's not promoted any more 🤷‍♀️

Hi I sell on vinted my ds clothes. I normally put them in a bundle for very cheap as the buyer has to pay postage and such so that 2 pound quickly becomes 6. They shift very fast. So for example I put 8 jumpers up for 3 pound etc. I've also donated to children charity shops but I sell a little on vinted and then use my balance to buy some more clothes for him. We've got some amazing bargains from there and it's all about helping eachother x

PotatoPudding · 25/04/2024 07:26

I am not sure what you expect to get for them, but I would expect to pay £5 for 20-25 supermarket branded baby items on Facebook or £3 on Vinted because of postage and fees. Vinted is a place for brand names but it’s more about the buyer getting a bargain than the seller making lots of money.

As a seller, I price age 4 Next jeans in excellent condition at £1.50, but they are more likely to go as a bundle, say 3 pairs for £4.

As a buyer, I get BNWT G-Star jeans for £10 instead of paying £100 retail.

JustMarriedBecca · 25/04/2024 07:26

I've sold a lot of Boden, John Lewis, Next stuff on there. I wouldn't sell supermarket stuff unless in a bundle. I disagree though - I usually sell in four or fives so people can see what they are getting. I've made enough to make it worth while although not as much as friends who have sold ex designer stuff (Cezanne level).
I see it as free money and this year I've sold enough to buy all their clothes from there too without actually spending any money.

I tend to upload in one go then it goes and I just take in one go to the lockers.

It could be something like that. Maybe someone on here knows how to promote the items?
Vinted can be a bit odd like that.
