To think selling baby clothes on vinted isn't worth it?

Mostly selling supermarket branded clothes, so don't know if that's the problem.

Have tried the trick of putting it on holiday mode for a week, which didn't work. Photos are all good, have tried spotlighting the wardrobe. Have also tried selling individually for £1 each or selling as a bundle of same size. Barely anything sells! Bundle offers are all set to 50% for 3 items...Where on earth am I going wrong?

Are there just too many baby clothes on vinted?

I don’t bother selling supermarket stuff in general, TU stuff can sell alright if it’s bundled sometimes. The problem is even if you sell for £1, by the time you’ve added postage and fees it’s not worth it.

I make pretty good money selling newer Boden stuff, White Company, Jojo and Next. Usually stuff sells at about 90% of the new price and I can almost always sell on things I’ve bought for the same price once we’ve finished!

I find Vinted very hit and miss. I've put stuff up before and it's sat there for weeks and weeks without selling.

Then last month I had a huge clear out of my Daughters age 3-4 stuff most of it was summer stuff. I put 140 items up on Friday night and 85% of it sold that night. I've never had that happen before, my phone was going mad with notifications.

Most of it was from Next but there were a few supermarket items in there. But everything was listed for £1 an item, a few bits with tags on still were slightly more, a next coat I sold for £5 and a Hatley coat (unworn) sold for £4. I've made nearly £100 last month which, like I said has never happened before. I've not done anything different that time to previous times.

I meant to say that I also have the bundle discounts on, which makes it better value for people and I tend to list supermarket items in bundles of 3 or 4 for £1.50 or something.

I buy most of my baby clothes on Vinted, I'd say it's just packed with a lot of choice. I only tend to buy if I can get a bundle from the seller. A £1 jumper isn't great value when you add £3ish postage and fees, but if they're selling a few other things I like it's worth it.
This week I wanted a new dressing gown for baby, there were 350 listings in his size, in very good condition and under £3! Even the exact same dressing gown I liked I had 15 to choose from, so I picked the seller that had other things i wanted to buy

I find if you pay to boost one item, then you sell a few bits really quickly and it’s worth it 👍

Did you mean 90%?? I buy my dd a lot of Zara on there as she’s a tween and into fashion but never pay more than £5 an item.

florasl · 25/04/2024 12:05

@Denou I meant 10% of the sold price 😂I have sold some Boden things more than the original price before though!

My advice would be to list as much as you can. Because of the postage, I only buy from sellers who have a few items I want, rather than just one item I like, so I can choose a bundle from them.

That advice works from a buyer’s point of view, but not really for a seller.

For a seller they need to list little and often, so at least one a day, rather than a load at once and being done with it.

Because its supermarket stuff. I only sell designer stuff on vinted and donate supermarket brand.

I think the Vinted algorithm might come into play. But I think Vinted is just saturated really. If you sell something for £1 I find too often it isn't bundled up.with other things. It's a pita to post one £1 item. As pp say that £1 costs the buyer £5+
