I'm in my 30s
5 foot 3 size 10.
I've noticed people have started saying I'm unusually short! I mean I'm not tall but surely I'm not teeny?

I'm only an inch taller than you, and people don't say this to me. I'm not a size 10 though (I wish!) so probably appear less petite.

StormingNorman · 21/04/2024 16:17

5.3 isn’t that short. I’m 5.5 which I think is average and wouldn’t notice if someone was a couple of inches shorter or taller.

zippingalongslowly · 21/04/2024 16:20

I am the same height and have had this when I've happened to be around (imo) taller people- at the moment I'm often socialising and working along with people the same height or shorter than me so of course they don't think I'm short!

SpudleyLass · 21/04/2024 16:21

You're the average height for a UK woman.

I'm 4'11'' - let me tell you about beingSHORT

mrandmrsrobinson · 21/04/2024 16:22

Oh fuck off..........

Who are these morons you're listening to. My bestest GF is under 5ft and I love her to bits. You'll never meet a more empathetic caring person.

These comments from dickheads really annoy me (as you can see)

It's about what is inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EggChair · 21/04/2024 16:34

You’re only a smidgen under the average, surely?

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 21/04/2024 16:38

I'm 5'3 and I've never come across anyone who thinks it's unusual. My family are short-arses, my DP is also 5'3 and his family are short-arses too.

My beloved Nana was 4' and built like a sparrow, with a bouffant hairdo that made her a solid 6'6.

You're short. It's not a big deal.

Shiningout · 21/04/2024 16:47

I'm. 5ft3 and had these comments when I was skinny... Not so much now I'm a mum and have a bit more weight than I'd like on me 🤣

PanPinPon · 21/04/2024 17:49

I have short legs maybe that's why😂

Yabu to be getting a complex, yes. Your height is normal for a woman.
How often are rude people saying to you that you're unusually short?
Practise saying "no I'm not, I'm a completely normal female height" with a neutral unsmiling stare.

PanPinPon · 21/04/2024 18:41

Honestly it's been said a lot!

OP posts:
PanPinPon · 21/04/2024 18:42

A colleague who is 5 foot said her husband said panpinpon is tiny isn't she

I mean that’s short to me..but I’m 6ft (183cm) without shoes so I consider most people short!

Same in 4"11

PanPinPon · 22/04/2024 12:36

Do people mention your 4 foot 11 height a lot?

Only ever on days ending in Y.

When I'm meeting somebody new, yes a comment is usually made. But people tend to get used to it in time.

newyearnewknees · 24/04/2024 16:31

I'm 5'3 and the tallest of my group of friends. I think it's quite bizarre that lots of people have commented on you being short, because you aren't. Nobody has ever said this to me, because I'm not.

ShortColdandGrey · 24/04/2024 16:39

I am 5ft and will soon be under 5ft the rate I am shrinking 😆 You are probably just under average height in the UK.

Smartiepants79 · 24/04/2024 18:14

I’m very similar in size to you and no one has ever said this type of thing to me.
Commented on how small my feet are but 🤷🏼‍♀️.
I’m very comfortable being the size I am. I can’t change it so what’s the point of worrying about it.
Only you can really give yourself a complex..

statetrooperstacey · 24/04/2024 18:19

I’m also 5’3 the odd comment from tall people but can’t say it’s frequent ! However at my old job there was a cohort of short people who all worked together , our corner of the office was known as ‘the shire’ !😂

elevens24 · 24/04/2024 18:58

I'm 5 foot 1 and size 10 and now 41 so noticing how small I am. I think the fact my dd12 is the same size has made it more obvious. I wear comfy heels (boots) most of the time.

PanPinPon · 28/04/2024 14:30

It's a bit infantilising going on about it. My 5 foot friend feels the same lol

OP posts:
MillshakePickle · 28/04/2024 14:44

Same height and always told how tiny I am. It makes feel so small after a while.

PanPinPon · 28/04/2024 18:49

Yeah it's an odd one! I used to work with a woman who used to tell me I was short. She was 5 foot 4.

OP posts:
PanPinPon · 30/04/2024 13:30

A patient just called me titch 😅
