In the Meal Deal sections. Went to four shops today and none had a plain cheese sandwich (not even any price labels so assume they don't sell them) but a variety of cheese and pickle, cheese and onion, triple cheese etc.

FFS I just want a plain cheese sandwich!

Totally not the point but the cheese and piccalilli sandwich from M&S is excellent!

HauntedBungalow · 19/04/2024 19:18

M&S piccalilli is superb all round imo.

The best meal deal is Waitrose though. Ok so it is a fiver but for your main you can have shit like sushi or tuna niscoise. And nice drinks like purdeys.

YANBU. Even if they are available they have filthy mayonnaise in them boak

BobbyBiscuits · 19/04/2024 19:21

Loaf of bread and pack of sliced cheddar? You could make that up in a few seconds!

Sunquest · 19/04/2024 19:22

I think Greggs do plain cheese sandwiches for kids.

ThursdayTomorrow · 19/04/2024 19:22

You want to try having Coeliac Disease - there might occasionally be 1 item you can have but to actually have a choice would be like winning the lottery!

Gensola · 19/04/2024 19:23

I can’t do meal deals because of evil evil mayonnaise 😂

zebranotzeebra · 19/04/2024 19:23

M&S do plain cheese and plain ham sandwiches for kids

Sunquest · 19/04/2024 19:24

Oh and Tesco do a pick and mix deal for kids in the cafe.

NeverEnoughPants · 19/04/2024 19:32

In tesco you can buy a load of bread for 45p and a pack of cheese slices for 83p.

You'd be able to make quite a lot of cheese sandwiches for less.

If you are buying for multiple people, add a six pack of crisps for about £1.65 or less, and a six or eight pack of soda for about £4, and you've got six meals for the price of two.

Sweeties1989 · 19/04/2024 19:35

My son is 6 hates mayonaise and he likes plainer sandwiches like ham, cheese etc. I got him a cheese and ham sub from tesco. He was munching through it at the park and the mayo was hidden in the middle under the ham. So annoying

curlycurlymoo · 19/04/2024 20:02

Tesco always do! And plain ham

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 19/04/2024 21:49

Try being gluten free. I can't find a gluten free sandwich anywhere nowadays. All this plant based shite seems to have taken over, and on the very rare chance I can find one it's either something I'd never eat. Or something I could easily make at home such as plain ham or ham and cheese.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/04/2024 22:03

Tesco do plain cheese.

notzoe · 19/04/2024 22:07

M&S do as do Morrisons and Boots for future reference.

EveryKneeShallBow · 19/04/2024 22:10

Try having a grandson that’s dairy and egg intolerant, hates baked beans and won’t eat ham. The amount of bread that has dairy in it is unreal.

MintTwirl · 19/04/2024 22:13

I hate mayo and I find it so frustrating that the plain cheese or ham sandwiches are so hard to come by, even if they stock them online it doesn’t translate into store. M&S do a kids sandwich which is plain cheese, it’s 3 quarters of a sandwich.

Marmite27 · 19/04/2024 22:15

Our tiny Greggs has plain ham and plain cheese. They are packaged for children though. I bought some for my DV last week.

idontlikealdi · 19/04/2024 22:18

No plain cheese in my local tesco, it's cheese and onion or cheese and pickle.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 19/04/2024 18:53

Do you not play the best value meal deal game? Massive sandwich, best snack and most expensive drink.

I know! That's the best fun!

I feel bad if the drink I want on the meal deal is in promotion so it's not a £2.70 one but suddenly £1.20. It irrationally annoys me to feel I am losing value!

JennyfromtheBlok · 19/04/2024 22:21

@Elephantswillnever was there an Innocent Smoothie in there… or a coconut water???

Elephantswillnever · 19/04/2024 22:26

@JennyfromtheBlok Costa coffee is part of the meal deal in my Co-op it’s £3.25 on its own. 🙈

Tryingtokeepgoing · 19/04/2024 22:27

Sainsbury’s will do you one for £1.40, and it’s in the £3.50 meal deal. You’d be losing money by going for the meal deal I reckon though 😂

JennyfromtheBlok · 19/04/2024 22:29

@Elephantswillnever so clever!
so better value than buying it on its own 🤷🏻‍♀️
