To be pissed off my ex has gone on holiday for a month?

ExDP and I have 5 year old DS together.

We split when DS was a baby and he's been a bit of a dick ever since. He is meant to have him two nights per week, but his parents do one of those and when it's his (week) day, he always drops DS off early around 2-3pm, instead of spending the day with him. So spends less than 24 hours per week with him.

He told me that he was going on holiday for two weeks, his parents will cover his day whilst he's gone. Fine. He is meant to be back on Saturday, but it turns out he is now staying for an extra two weeks. So will have been gone for a month in total.

He told DS he was working in London, DS is really missing him.

AIBU to be pissed off he's gone away for a month? Perhaps I am, I just feel bad for DS.

Well it's hardly a surprise he is a feckless idiot

What job does he have where he can just f*ck off for a month?

Are his gps seeing him these other two weeks?

Sadly he is unlikely to change and suddenly be a great and devoted dad.
I've got multiple friends who are dealing with similar situations and there isn't an answer really. You can't make him a better parent. Hopefully he had a good relationship with his GP?

Thank you for your responses.

He has quite a good relationship with his gps. I have no idea yet if they are going to continue having him over the next couple of weeks.

I feel like confronting ExDP but like you have said, it is probably pointless.

Also not sure if I'm even BU to be annoyed?

You're a single parent at this point. Go to court, if needs be, stop dancing to his tune.
