To think that the Home Secretary should go to Rwanda and get our money back?

Instead of throwing more of our money at this stupid gimmick. I think there should be more of an outrage at just how much taxpayers money the government is wasting on this. It's clear that the Rwanda plan is never going to get over the line so I don't understand why the government is still pissing away our money on this stupid idea. The courts have already told them it's unlawful once. It's not their money they are wasting either, it's our money, it's taxpayers money. As well as dropping the Rwanda idea, in my opinion the government should also try and get back the money that we have already sent to Rwanda.

We've already sent more home secretaries to Rwanda than asylum seekers/migrants. The government needs to stop pissing our money away on this stupid gimmick.

Weelll… the Rwanda policy is blatantly stupid, horrible, and aimed at appealing to people who are opposed to helping refugees. But as for getting the money back, I don’t think it’s a goer. The government has basically put itself in the position of someone who buys a gym membership and then never goes to the gym because they can’t be arsed.

Agree

From the title I thought you meant let's send the home secretary to Rwanda instead of asylum seekers. I was going to say that's a good idea, if we could send Rishi as well, even better.

I agree with what you have said but I do think the government does need to try and find a way to get our money back because they have wasted so much on it.

I think this is a great analogy. But I would add:

....someone who buys a gym membership and then never goes to the gym because they can’t be arsed. BUT then blames everyone else and its someone elses fault, they never go to the gym

(Rwanda plan doesn't work because....umm...you know...oh its Labours fault. Actually its the looney left fault. Ummm...sorry no, its the tofu eating guardian reading woketari. Changed my mind again, it's actually the fault of these terrible human rights lawyers and Judges)

I don't understand why there isn't more outrage about the amount of money our government is wasting on this.

Because it buys them a few nice headlines in which they can pretend they're "doing something about illegal migrants" - also because their lawyer friends are making a packet out of it

Actually I think Rwanda is small fry compared to how much money this government has pissed up the wall, or stuffed into mates pockets.

MotherofPearl · 18/04/2024 23:04

It is outrageous OP, I agree. The Rwandan President has said that Rwanda will return the money for the scheme if no migrants are sent, but I'm not sure if he meant it.

YADNBU to suggest the Home Secretary should go to Rwanda and never come back.
