Help, horse insurance problem

Hi,

Probably a stupid question but I’m really not sure

I need to get public liability insurance for my horse and I need the insurance to be active immediately

I remember getting insurance previously where it took 48 hours after starting the policy for it to kick in, for some reason I think that’s just the vet bill part rather than the public liability part but I’m not sure

does anyone know with like BHS/ harry hall etc with their memberships does it kick in straight away, as in will the public liability insurance be valid from tonight if I start the membership tonight and pay for it? Can’t find anything about if there’s a delay or if it’s immediate or not

thank you so much in advance!

Yes BHS Gold etc are valid straight away. It's the vet fees insurance that you can't claim on for 2 weeks.

Just be aware that BHS Gold/Harry hall etc are group/policy of last resort so very tricky to claim on (they will go through other insurance first eg house insurance & exhaust that first for any claim) so if you think there's a genuine risk you may need to claim then best look at more comprehensive policies.

They are great policies though if you need to tick a box & provide evidence of third party insurance & peace of mind.

BHS Gold is valid from the day you start your insurance, if you did it from today, you would be covered. I think the vets fee part needs to be active for a certain amount of time before you can claim.

Harry Hall is the same re dates of the insurance cover beginning.
