For the 3rd time today there's hail piling up at the bottom of the glass of the patio doors like bloonin' snow!

The wind's howling and my pots have gone over again.

I'm chilly and got my big cardi and thick socks on - again.

sigh

no point to this thread i'm just fucked off with it.

I love the rain, keeps all the fair weather dog walkers indoors out of my way

Titsywoo · 16/04/2024 20:32

Yeah it has been mental here in Surrey. Hail at least 3 times and bloody big bits too. Randomly interspersed with sunshine, heavy rain and I think I heard thunder at one point.

To be fair, my big , hairy pooch decides whether I can go puddle jumping... he's not keen at all.
( Yes I can go myself but I'd rather go out with huge fur ball.)

That being said, I'm really behind in the garden.
The wind has been the predominant factor. Hate a cold wind.

So, you're OK with food shortages and food price hikes because the farmers can't plant anything, and lambs are dying?

Be careful what you wish for Hmm

MoonCircles · 16/04/2024 20:53

It’s a miracle that I picked the only dry bit of the day to walk the dog, was out for over an hour and had to take my jumper off, it was actual t shirt weather! Then got home and started cooking dinner and the hail started lashing against the window. Last night at dog agility the hail was hammering it down so hard on the barn that it’s in I couldn’t hear what the instructor was saying.

It's not a great picture but this was taken at about 7.30pm yesterday the hail was about 4 inches deep within about one minute

Today was quite pleasant where we are, just outside Belfast. Bright and clear, but quite cold. Yesterday was awful though. It was 3 degrees when I drove DS2 to school and the wind would have cut you in two!

SOxon · 16/04/2024 21:36

@MoonCircles what a great picture, happy dog, boing boing !

Cramlington567 · 16/04/2024 21:41

Wonder if they termed it 'Global Raining' would the public have more of a sense of urgency. The wetter aspect of climate change is not at the forefront of the message. Not to trivialise the matter as being about inconvenient rain but the flooding aspect is real.

napody · 16/04/2024 21:43

Sun and hail here too in South Wales. Too be honest that feels kinda typical for April, and I'm just happy to see sunshine after about 5 months of solid rain. A bit of variety is fine by me!

katebushh · 16/04/2024 21:43

It was like hurricane wind here in Crete today ffs. Fucking sick of the weather everywhere tbh.

Penguinfeet24 · 16/04/2024 21:45

Midland here too and it's been insane today. Heating is back on!

awitchoftroubleinelectricblue · 16/04/2024 22:24

I just stood at the front door and watched ab huge bank of dark grey clouds move slowly, ominously up the street from the north. The wind whirred its way up before howling through the houses and whipping up the bushes, and then the heavy rain came. 20 minutes later, as quickly as it appeared, it's gone and the sky is clear.

Abbyant · 19/04/2024 13:07

Sun is out but it’s windy as hell in Liverpool.

SOxon · 19/04/2024 13:41

It is windy here too on the Oxford Plain, bluebells abound, windblown blossom, streaming hay fever, fish pie for dinner, made a chocolate cake.

My body thinks its Spring as I’m craving salad, lettuce, baby veg, when my brain tells me, mashed potato please, its too bloody cold for salad.

FloatyBoaty · 19/04/2024 13:48

Where I am in Yorkshire it’s been like that all week. 20 mins of sunshine then horizontal rain or massive hail. Have had to put the heating on every day for at least a bit.

utterly miserable with it tbh. And no please nobody give me your shit about “no such thing as bad weather”. I have seasonal affective disorder and I can tell you, this year has been my worst year ever- it’s been grey, damp and miserable for pretty much 9 months now without much break where I am, and I’m over it. Fucking capitalism fucking the climate.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 19/04/2024 13:54

Yorkshire here and got the hail on Wednesday, very heavy. Had rain once again this morning, lovely and sunny now but very windy and a cold wind, the winter coats are back out and i'm regretting changing duvet to the summer one, can't be arsed to change back though

Laserwho · 19/04/2024 14:33

It's April. This is what April in the UK looks like. Cold, sunny, warm, hail, sometimes snow, showers. It's not exactly new 🙄

KnickerlessParsons · 19/04/2024 17:48

It's been glorious here this afternoon (Wiltshire)

MeAndMounjaro · 19/04/2024 20:00

Does anyone else feel as though we've just had rain since winter 2022? There were very few and far between hot/sunny days last year, it was a crap summer so this long wet spring is really pushing it

Yep and wind. I'm so fed up of both the wind and the rain.

Crispynoodle · 19/04/2024 20:04

It's absolutely lovely in NI atm so it should be coming to Scotland/England soon! Bonus for us is that it's a clear night and we might see lady aurora in our skies if I can stay up late enough!

misslawbore · 01/06/2024 19:55

That's only happened to me once so far this year. I live in London.
