Shocked by Sharon Osbourne's appearance

I recently saw a photo of her- she looks ill and aged. Apparently down to Ozempic - she hasn’t been able to put weight on since she stopped taking it. A shame as she was an attractive woman

facial fat loss isn't a bad thing!

Disagree- not when you are older

She's seventy fucking one years old, will this judgement of women's appearance and how fat (or not) or old they look ever end?

Yes she is, she still looks very ill and haggard and she said it was down to taking Ozempic, not the fact she’s 70.

violetlozenge · 02/08/2024 22:22

Faces definitely look different with more or less fat on them and when the difference is greater than a stone or so it can look very stark to observers but that doesn't mean the person looks gaunt.

Except when they do look gaunt.

newnamethanks · 02/08/2024 22:29

Bloody hell, 71 and still being judged on looks. How's Ozzie looking? Any other old rockers? Or is it just their WAGS that are supposed to look 25 until they - whisper it - die of old age?

soupfiend · 02/08/2024 22:35

People that were fat, and lose weight and have a 'normal' face will look gaunt to those that know them

People that lose too much weight or have had plastic surgery which affects where the fat lies on your face and then its out of proportion might look gaunt

Is it the worse thing in the world to look gaunt?

My face is a lot more haggard after losing 10 stone. Depending on the day and how my skin seems to feel about itself it might hang a bit, on other days it seems to plump itself out, its probably still adjusting and I read that this happens for a couple of years after signficant weight loss

I never had cheek bones, I had cheek fat, and now its gone I dont have my chubby face anymore. Someome might say its ozempic face (and as others have said this was something coined by plastic surgeons), its not even fast weightloss face because its taken me 2 years to lose it, more or less.

Ultimately, people want to sit in judgement about what someone else looks like, they certainly want to sit in moral judgement about weight loss methods and this is whats happening here. I havent seen pictures of her, nor am I interested in them. A person might or might not lose 'too much weight' and they might or might not do that via unnecessary measures but ultimately, the discussion is taking place because people love to slag someone off.

violetlozenge · 03/08/2024 00:01

Why are people taking this personally, and writing long screeds, when they claim to have not seen any pictures about what this thread is discussing - the effects of a weightloss injection on a celebrity who is in the media and on television discussing these effects, and who was already underweight before she went on the injections?

samanthablues · 17/08/2024 09:52

She has what is known as "the ozempic face": gaunt looking and corpse like face, yes she looks ill. The uber died red hair with not one grey hair and 2 inches of make up enhances her 80 year old doll looking face. She looks incredibly weird, and yes none of my business and that's her decision etc... but she's giving Katie price vibes. At some point you need to accept yourself, age, wrinkles and all. I'm not saying a shot of botox here or there, a facial treatment or even a face lift is a bad thing, as long as it "enhances" your look, nothing wrong, problem is when you over do it and start looking like a spitting image.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 17/08/2024 10:12

‘Ozempic face’ implies it’s the actual weight loss drug that has caused her face to look as it does. Her face looks thin because she has lost a lot of weight. How she did it is irrelevant. Her facial fillers are now more pronounced because her face is thinner.

Josette77 · 17/08/2024 14:36

My friend has lost 100 lbs on Ozempic. It's been a literal life safer for her.

Yes her face looks thinner, but she is happy and healthy and energetic.

Who cares about an "older" looking face?

I'll never choose between my ass and my face, I'll choose my health and however I look healthy.

If you're obese, loose plenty of weight you're face will look thinner and probably "healthier", if you're already slim and loose plenty of weight (like Sharon) your face will look gaunt (specially after a certain age when we have no baby fat left), it will age you and make you look older.

Antonela · 24/08/2024 19:38

She is no longer young but the loss in weight has made Sharon look hideous. She has also had a lot of surgery which somehow hasn’t worked and now with the weight loss she doesn’t look great!

Brenda Blethyn is a perfect looking woman in her 70's. Obviously this is my opinion, but I wonder why SO would try to look the way she does when embracing our age must be so much more empowering.

I'm the same age as SO, well within a few months. I think the aging and how you feel does vary. I was lucky as I looked young for my age for many years, I didn't recognise it at the time but if I look at photos of me at 20 and me at 40 it is hard to see I've aged. At some point I did start to age and it suddenly took off at a frightening pace in my 60s. I'm not exactly sure when as I had a demanding job, am my husbands carer, did lots of childcare with GC so I wasn't that focused on it but one day I looked in the mirror and thought who the hell is that old woman? I find with friends the ones who aged gradually seem much happier with how they look now and I guess I will get used to it but I think if it sneaks up on you it can be a shock.

She looked phenomenal a year ago (DM said this pic was taken in May 2023)

But something has definitely changed quite dramatically based on the most recent pictures published.

I don't think it's that recent, I've been watching their podcast for ages and don't recall her looking like that in all of the time I have been.

I feel quite sorry for her. The pressure to look young and be thin must be exhausting for famous women. I can completely see and understand how/why people end up taking it to the extreme.

She did comment some months ago that she'd stopped using Ozempic but was unable to put weight back on, not for want of trying as she knew she was much too thin.
