WFH - do you ever just relax?

I love working from home, and when I do, I will quite often do half a day's work and then put my feet up.

I do everything I need to do, and I do it to a good standard. My manager praises me and has no concerns at all about my work. I'm not behind at all.

But if I've done all my work, I simply leave Teams active so that I hear if anyone wants to contact me, and then I get on with whatever I want to do.

If I was in the office, I would still be sat there doing nothing, but just feeling frustrated that I had to look like I was busy until 5.

Right now I'm sipping a delicious beverage at 4pm and browsing mumsnet, because I've finished all my work.

Anyone else? And do you think it's OK?

How does it affect me? Well, it affects me by knowing that we all get paid a (fairly similar) full time wage but I know for a fact I’m working harder? Why would it not be frustrating to be paid the same amount as someone else working less hard? I’m not ‘matyring’ myself, I’m not losing sleep over it, but I am allowed to weigh in on a Mumsnet thread about this exact topic.

For the record I am looking for other jobs with a similar WFH set up. Unfortunately the job market isn’t ideal at the moment.

Everyone's lives are different and we all make our choices around work.

I feel like your frustration would be better spent on politicians, celebrities, influencers and footballers who are paid ridiculous sums of money for doing very little, rather than me earning a very average salary for doing a very average job, and actually completing everything I am asked to do.

Good luck finding what you want.

Well obviously all of the above is frustrating but, with respect, you didn’t start a thread on political corruption or footballers’ salaries. You started a thread asking for opinions on whether your approach to WFH was unreasonable. All I did (and others have done) was give opinions, which you did ask for. My opinions on politicians, footballers, influencers and celebrities are not relevant in this context so please don’t suggest my frustrations are trivial or misplaced.

Thank you for wishing me good luck in my job search.

Well I asked if anyone else has periods where they relax when they are WFH and how they feel about it/ whether they think that's OK.

You replied that you are frustrated that some people earn the same or more as you whilst doing less work - which is fine as a response I suppose, but I don't know what you really think anyone is going to say to it. It's not really related to my actions or what you would do in my situation. It's just you basically saying that you are jealous.

Which again is fine - but just get yourself another job. Hope you find one you enjoy.
