How close are you to your siblings?

I live abroad and see my sister once a year or two and haven’t seen my brother for a few years. When we see each other, we get on but I sometimes feel awkward, it feels sad
Am I the only one?

My three aunts remained close even in old age. They used to go on holiday together with their partners and I once met them all out shopping together. but they were not close with their brother (my father). I have two sisters. I have cut off all communication with one of them. The other lives nearby and we do see each other fairly regularly but we aren’t close. We were always different and have had very different lives. I once read that ‘your children are people you once knew’ and I think the same could be said of siblings. I am closer to some of my girlfriends than I am to my sister but we are always there for each other in an emergency which is what I think matters most.

One amazing older sister. See each other most weeks, although have gone periods when we haven't seen each other for few weeks or a month or so due to work or holidays but it doesn't matter. We had a difficult childhood and she looked after me when I was a teenager and into my twenties. Couldn't imagine life without her.

Not close. I do not see my half siblings or the dad we share. He's always been unavailable, remarrying and rescuing the new spouse's adult kids from their various life situations. My brother I'm not close to. My family is very dysfunctional. It would be trauma bonding if we were close.
I do not dislike him and when we do see each other, which is very infrequent, we are amiable. My mum isn't the huggy type and I think we are the same. I look at close families with a mixture of awe, interest and confusion.

I have one lovely older brother. I haven’t seen him in person for 8 years now, but we do stay in touch.

I have one brother, we are very close. I consider him and his wife amongst my closest people and we talk / see each other often.
