To be pissed off with inconsistent clothet's sizing.

I dont really mind as much sizing between brands, I know I will never fit into anything from Zara as their XL is more like S in some other brands, but that's another problem. My issue is lack of standarisation within any brand. I am usually a size 16 with Next or a few other brands, with lots of room. Last week saw an amazingly beautiful dress on vinted, size 18. I thought it may be a bit big, but not an issue. It just came and I cant even get my boobs through the top part, and I am not even a cup D. Got Joanie pants, the same model came in two different colours, green and red. I got red in size 18, felt like a parachute, kept on sliding off my butt. Swapped for a 16. Saw another pair of the green ones in size 16, got them, my thighs barely fit and I cant zip them up. THE SAME TROUSERS in different colour. What the actual...
It's just so annoying that one brand can't even maintain consistency of clothing and sizing and every time it feels like a lottery, also what a waste as Im sure Im not the only one sending things back (and as I read, brands just often destroy clothes that are returned without putting them back on sale...).
Attached, an actual photo of me in my new beautiful dress...

I hate that, I got some primark jeans in 3 colours all size 8, 1 pair fits perfect, 1pair can’t do up and 1 pair is too loose

I see so many people saying this but I’ve never really experienced this vast range in sizes and I say that as someone who regularly shops a lot.

YaMuvva · 05/04/2024 14:20

YANBU.

I can be anything from a 8/S to a 14/XL depending on what shop I’m in.

I now just hold clothes up and decide if it looks like I’ll fit into them

😄 love the picture.

Yep I have 2 pairs of identical White Stuff trousers in different colours but same size according to the labels, in reality I have to breathe in to fasten 1 pair while the other has to be held up with a belt. Maddening.

Jeans, blue pair just about long enough.
Black pair, nope, half an inch shorter.
Lying fuckers. Back went the black ones.

I’m with you, OP! After a significant weightloss, I’ve been trying on old clothes and they’re mostly all the same size. The ones from H&M are nowhere near fitting, George at Asda are variable, some are a bit big, some not yet fitting. It’s ridiculous! Etam (yes, I’m that old!) is nowhere near fitting. They’re all from the same era, all the same size. Another brand bought from eBay made me happy, too big but the same size as everything else, but I rather think it’s American sizing, so 2 sizes bigger! 🙈
