AIBU to jump headfirst into a bowl of pasta after not losing weight on Fast800?

(Posting for traffic: not many people on the Fasting board.)

I need some wisdom to stop me from jumping off the cliff and headfirst into a massive bowl of pasta!

I am 5'10 and 235lbs so very overweight. I started working with a personal trainer two weeks ago and started Fast800 a week ago. Other than Easter Sunday I've stuck to it well. In terms of working out, on a weekly basis I have 2 strength sessions with my PT and 2 spin classes. I'm sore following the PT sessions.

I weighed myself this morning and have not lost an ounce in a week. I am so despondent and my usual MO is just to say "sod it, I'm mid 40s and maybe this is it for me."

I live in the US and I'm coming home to the UK in May for something of a reunion with old friends. All the Fast800 testimonials talk about losing 25lbs in 8 weeks, but I can't get the needle to shift! 😭

Has anyone "been there, done that"? I'd really appreciate any wisdom/support.

It's been a week. Be reasonable

You will also be retaining water in muscles used after weights. I put weight on after I do weights or a heavy aerobic session.

Also, for clarity, I drank two mimosas on Easter Sunday - I didn't eat chocolate at all.

It's so hard when you have worked hard and don't see it on the scales but don't give up, maybe by this time next week you feel a difference in your jeans x

It's been a week and you've been newly exercising. You'll be holding on to so much water. Give it another week. Or try 16:8 hours intermittent fasting rather than the 5:2 days thing.

I didn’t do fast 800 but did follow ‘lose a stone in 21 days’ (it took 23 but I was lighter than you by 30lb). It’s still on channel 4 but now called change your life with Michael Moseley. I don’t think you can be eating low carb and 800 calories and not losing. However, everyone is different and it may take time. Stop weighing for a month and see how your clothes feel.

Interesting. I’ve started Fast 800 recently (about 3 weeks ago?) and haven’t yet weighed myself - am waiting until I’ve done a month.

Im 5”7 and about 175lbs. I think maybe I’m losing a little bit? Not exercising though, and tbh I’m mostly “guesstimating” my food weights for cals (but I have to be careful as history of disordered eating, so purposefully don’t let myself become dogmatic).

I’ve tweaked it a bit to work for me so fone straight to phase 2, rather than 800 cals every day.
The is means I “fast” three days pw (mon, Weds, fri). Don’t restrict on other days. But aim for healthy foods and under 1500 cals tues and Thurs. Sat and Sun I’m just whatever.

the most pleasant surprise has been that the “fast” days have really helped me reset my relationship with Food on the other days- so I’m listening to my body when I’m full. Craving less sugar- and am sated much more quickly when I eat it. And generally making healthier choices.

I think I’m unlikely to see a rapid or frantic weight loss, but hopeful it will start me on the path psychologically.

Interested to know how you get on longer term!

I started fasting weekly in the new year. I now fast from Monday night to Wednesday lunchtime.

Not lost an ounce. I think your metabolism just adapts to less food by slowing. For example I'm noticeably cold while I fast from after lunchtime on the Tuesday.

To be honest, though I'm a massive fatty I'm not fasting for weightloss but for other potential health benefits so I'm not upset but I am a tad surprised. Although I probably shouldn't be, I didn't lose anything when I did the five two diet for a year either. I'm not sure fasting is the great weight loss tool it's portrayed as. Another family member also lost nothing on the fast 800.

I thought with fast 800 you didn't exercise - the people who I know who've done it actually go really sedentary and then up exercise as they up calories.

That's only 2 people though
