Not insured - report?

Hi,

I've noticed a car parked in my street, it's been there a little while and I've just checked and it's currently not insured. It's parked on the road, so needs to be insured.

AIBU to report to police?

How long is a little while though?
4 days -no
4 months-if it’s causing difficulty parking, probably.

Willowswood · 03/04/2024 18:04

To clarify, it's being driven aswell as being parked in the street.

Yes report.

How do you know it is not insured? Isn't it the driver who is insured rather than the vehicle.

Greybeardy · 03/04/2024 18:18

they'll get busted eventually by the DVLA. I slightly stupidly recently had a car off road for a couple of months (genuinely off road and not being driven), but not officially SORN and had not renewed the insurance because I wasn't driving it and did get a letter from the DVLA to say they knew it wasn't on the motor insurance database and I had to sort it out or there'd be a fine (lesson definitely learned!).

No, the vehicle is insured for certain individuals to drive it.

toomuchfaff · 03/04/2024 18:33

report it, driving without insurance is a dick move.

I hope you aren't a car owner judging by your reply!

That's for your own vehicle. Using it to get info on someone else's vehicle is a criminal offence.
