Please settle an argument with DH!
Kids are in their 20s.
One of us thinks this is a usual thing to do.
One thinks it is weird.
I won’t tell you which of us thinks it’s weird until later….

YABU - buying eggs for adult children is WEIRD
YANBU - buying eggs for adult children is not only usual, but LOVELY

Can’t remember last time my prawns got me one.
They buy Easter Eggs for the grandchildren now.

WhatTheFuckIsThat · 03/04/2024 18:20

My sons are in their 40s, I got them a box of chocolates each. Easter eggs for their wives

Mistymountain · 03/04/2024 18:20

I buy for my son and DIL, they like chocolate and I just like to do it. I don't care if anyone thinks its odd!

Spreadthehappiness · 03/04/2024 18:22

Not weird at all!! My husband and I even buy each other Easter eggs ( from the Easter bunny). There is no age limit on Easter ( how sad if there was ).

Damn. That's some well trained Prawns. Did you get them from Pets at home?

We got fish from there and on comparison its a but disappointing. Just swims around....

DimplesToadfoot · 03/04/2024 18:25

My ds is 33 I bought one for him, I'll probably be buying him one every year until I die, my DS bought me one and I'm 21 and a bit :-)

FlorencenotRatchet · 03/04/2024 18:25

I'm in my 50's and my mum still buys me an egg at Easter!

NoraLuka · 03/04/2024 18:27

I buy one for my Dad and he’s in his 70s!

ChloeR81 · 03/04/2024 18:27

I’m 42 with 2 kids and my mum still got me an Easter bag of goodies this year 😂 love it!

ChloeR81 · 03/04/2024 18:28

Oh and I bought both my parents one and they’re 80!

CurlewKate · 03/04/2024 18:29

@Molonty
Surely they can just buy it themselves?"

Now buying yourself an egg IS weird! If I buy myself chocolate I buy myself GOOD chocolate!

mondaytosunday · 03/04/2024 18:30

My kids are 18 and 20 and yes I got all of us (me included) and Easter egg! Adults like chocolate too!

PeloMom · 03/04/2024 18:30

I stopped getting them only because I asked not to be given them anymore (my mother would pick the largest one possible and I have zero self control around chocolate while trying to stay in shape). I think she got me my last one when I was late 30s.

Mnetcurious · 03/04/2024 18:31

I couldn’t vote as I don’t think it’s weird but neither do I think it’s the norm! As long as you just want to buy one because it’s a nice thing to do, rather than feeling you ‘should’ still get your adult children an Easter egg then go ahead - nothing wrong with it.

TadpolesInPool · 03/04/2024 18:39

Oh dear, I didn't even buy my 9 and 12 year old DC one this year. In my defense, we were on holiday (well visiting where we used to live) and I knew MIL had got them something one week before Easter, plus I did spend the whole 10 days spoiling them with all the yummy food that we can't buy where we live. They didn't even mention not getting eggs!

Personally I think there is no right answer. If it makes you happy then why not?

Dancingontheedge · 03/04/2024 18:50

Four adult family, we buy each other Easter eggs.So everyone gets three chocolatey items. I don’t care what other people do.

Elebag · 03/04/2024 18:50

Mum bought me an egg. I'm 50.

Screamingabdabz · 03/04/2024 18:53

We even did an egg hunt for ours! They love it!

rwalker · 03/04/2024 18:56

In laws buy all children ,in laws and grand kids one ages from 21 to 60

doneandone · 03/04/2024 18:57

I still do an Easter egg hunt for my dd19 🙈. But tbf she does it with her brother who's 11. I hide mini chocolate eggs around the room and in the kitchen and when they move into look in the kitchen I then quickly put their Easter eggs on the table so they're there when they come back in to the room. I love doing it, they still enjoy egg hunting, I'll stop when they no longer enjoy it. It is quite tongue in cheek though.

Jeannie88 · 03/04/2024 18:59

Always nice to get an Easter egg from kids and parents, keep the childhood memories alive. Xx

doneandone · 03/04/2024 18:59

I think I'll only stop buying for my dcs when they have their own dcs, but then I'll probably still buy for them 😬

livelovelough24 · 03/04/2024 19:00

My kids are 25, 22 and 19, living with me. I still buy Easter eggs every year, and hide them around the house for them to find.😂And, I will never stop.🤷‍♀️

TheChosenTwo · 03/04/2024 19:03

Same @doneandone - egg hunt for my 19,18 and 12yo dc, I say to myself it’s mainly
for the youngest but I don’t think he’d care if I stopped so long as he still for the chocolate 😂 his elder sisters on the other hand would be outraged!
I still buy mine eggs but I haven’t had one as an adult ever, I think my mum stopped when I was a teen.

Dh thinks it’s nonsense but comes out to watch them scurrying about in the garden! He also thinks they are too old for stockings but he is overruled again 😂 he doesn’t really get much of a say…

MumChp · 03/04/2024 19:03

We buy all 3 an Easter Egg - 2 are +18 yo.
I also buy Easter Eggs for growns up. I like it.
