Banging noises outside

I live on a new build estate and there’s still building work ongoing. I’m having a restless night and since about 2am I’ve heard on and off banging noises, seemingly coming from outside. What could it be?

Someone getting in from a night out? Cats in a bin?

Thank you for replying, feeling really out of sorts. It’s very rural out here to the point I don’t think there would be taxis turning up but I guess it could be. We haven’t actually had our bins delivered yet! Hopefully they’ll be here next week!

Only been here a few days so I’m still trying to settle in so that might be why I’m feeling like this. I do tend to lay and listen out for noises

Could it be theft of materials as building works on going.

Someone’s meter door wasn’t locked near here and it was pretty noisy in the wind. Could it be that?
