Hello
Not quite sure why I am posting but I am going on holiday in 8 weeks and I am the heaviest I have ever been.

I need to lose 3 stone and I know I can't lose that in that time but please tell me I can lose at least 1 stone. I will still feel gross but not near as gross as I feel now. I am a huge comfort eater.

I am trying to do 1200 kcal and low ish carbs and upping my exercise gently

Please tell me I can Blush

Intermittent fasting I find beneficial

ScroogeMcDuckling · 01/04/2024 18:59

Plenty of soup and one healthy meal a day.

u can do it.

Feeling desperate and up against the clock won’t really help you get to and maintain a healthy weight; in fact it’ll probably hinder you. Listen to the Jessica Cooke podcast, make a healthy eating plan you can realistically stick with, and work out how you can build more movement into your day. Build your holiday outfits around your figure and be kind to yourself 🙂

Use a tgee calculator online to find out what calorie goal suits you at this moment in time, 1200 is often not needed or sustainable.

Eat healthy, and move more. Calorie counting works for me for not for everyone, I used it for a couple of months and by then I’d learnt what to eat and didn’t need to count them anymore.

don’t set a time line, it’s a life change not a short term goal. Don’t take it too seriously and find exercise you enjoy.

Good luck!

If you can afford it, a PT who also has qualifications in nutrition will help you. 1200 will be very difficult to sustain for 8 weeks, that is unlikely to be enough food for you especially if you up your exercise. If you do it properly, a stone might not be doable on the scale, but you could see a big difference in the mirror.

1:1 diet, Cambridge, find a supplier, it's fkin hard, but it does work. Average a stone a month BUT you have to change your lifestyle or you will yoyoyoyoyoyo back and forth.

Go do it, try it, but do not guilt yourself for falling off the wagon. its bloody hard, that helps no one.

You’re going to need more than 1 meal a day OP.

Eat little, but often. Low carbs, high protein.

At least 10,000 steps a day. Lift weights. Focus on specific areas each work out. I.e legs and glutes one day, core one day and arms/shoulders and back the other.

Drink plenty of water. No sugars and no processed foods.

Good luck OP!

why do you need to lose the weight for a holiday? why do you need to lose weight at all? i am a firm believer that you will only lose weight if you really want too... and it should not just be for a holiday, it should be for your own health and wellbeing. i don't know what you weight now, but a stone is acheiviable in 8 weeks, but whats the point as you are likely to put it on while away? you need a long term plan,,, not a quick fix

FredaFandango · 01/04/2024 19:17

Calorie counting works for me and the Nutracheck app is brilliant for calculating as long as you put the right amounts in.

Alwaystired2023 · 01/04/2024 19:18

Of course you can! Cut out bread and sugar, good old Atkins style diet (may not be sustainable but if you stick to it for 8 weeks am sure you could go on holiday feeling a bit happier with the numbers on the scales)

Alternative view - am sure you look amazing as you are and maybe a couple new dresses / swimsuit might have the same affect (effect?) as the above!

mcmen05 · 01/04/2024 19:22

Plenty of water
Be careful cutting back foods do it gradually as you can get dizzy and flu like spytoms

SpeedyDrama · 01/04/2024 19:37

More water, less sugar. Do it slowly, as a pp said if you cut out everything too quickly it will make you feel ill (I cut out caffeine and honestly the brain fog was unreal). Dont calorie count, just make smaller portions, maybe use smaller plates (not child ones!) if possible. Try turmeric capsules, may be woowoo but I felt it helped me get a better mentality about losing weight. And mostly don’t beat yourself up about your weight - it’s not a race.

I don't know much about diets but can definitely recommend a 50s style bikini. Covers your tummy while making the most of your boobs. Mine has done wonders for my confidence. Something like this
