Am I right to be concerned about the flooded path next to a fresh grave?

We go through a cemetary to go to school, and there is a fresh grave next to the path. This part is also flooded by rainwater.

I am probably just hysterical, but that water concerns me. Will the dead body be soaked and waterlogged? Will decomposing material mix with the water? Or maybe the water doesnt really penetrate all the way down?

Ok, I am feeling slightly sick, worried about a tummy bug, I am flying out at 8 am tomorrow morning and the house is not packed, and I am concerned with this?

well... it depends somewhat on the type of coffin the deceased's famiy chose.

Some are air/watertight, so you'll be fine if it's one of them.

Some, however are not.

Have you put your zombie plan into action? I suggest moving to Scandinavia at the earliest opportunity.

(seriously, you'll be fine)

I think coffins are fairly heavy duty iirc, often lined with waterproof/otherwise impenetrable stuff. I'm sure someone will come along who knows for sure but I think that's right in which case no, the outside might get a bit wet but it wouldn't saturate the whole thing. Even more so if it's new as it will be varnished or similar I would have thought?

It would depend where the water came from too.. if it was surface water then fine but if it were the actual ground getting waterlogged then you never know.. You'd be able to smell it though, dead people smell vile.

wear wellies.

I think it is mostly rainwater, it doesnt drain away very well. So maybe it is ok then.

My mind is just buzzing with a lot of weird thoughts tonight.

it is a deep hole with a tightly sealed wooden box in it. what could happen?

its the older graves you need to worry about.
