I tried and failed to find a previous thread 😅. Aibu to ask for your recommendations for cover songs that are better than the original? One of mines is Miley Cyrus, Just Like A Prayer. It gives me goosebumps, not everyones cup of tea but I love it.

The Sundays version is my favourite too! I've never known anyone else actually know that version!

"Wherever you are" has been covered by a metal band, Dragonforce.

Its quite surreal listening to thousands of metal fans belting out what was originally a soppy love song!

I'm Gonna Be Strong- Cyndi Lauper (I love the original by Gene Pitney equally, just like that they are both so different)

I Drove All Night- Roy Orbison

Dancing In The Dark- Jorgen Dahl Moe (bit obscure but one of the best covers I've heard)

The other song that immediately springs to mind is I Will Always Love You. The Whitney Houston version is next level compared with the great Dolly Parton.
