How are you spending Easter Sunday?

Not sure if there's already one of these so apologies if so.

We are having a chilled day today. We went out into the city on Friday with dc for shopping and activities which was a hectic day. Yesterday we had friends round for a hunt in the garden and bbq while the weather was nice. Today it's really cloudy despite the forecast being good so I'm taking that as a sign to stay home and eat chocolate in peace. I do need to pop out and get a few small bits of shopping later. And I'm planning on making a cake and taking the little ones for a walk this afternoon. Hopefully older dc will make plans with friends.

It'll be a big lamb roast late afternoon and waiting to see if The Greateat Story Ever Told is on.

We left the ‘big eggs’ out for the kids last night under our little Easter tree. Means they stay quiet in the morning whilst we lie in.

Now about to have brunch - scrambled eggs and smoked salmon.

Then Easter egg hunt in the garden.

Roast at around 3pm probably (chicken, wanted lamb but kids not keen)

We were thinking about a quick walk but the weather is so dull we might not bother.

Film later and maybe a sandwich if peckish.

In between that I am planning to bake a cake with the kids, and have a clear out in my bedroom. DH is looking forward to what he is calling a ‘shredding event’ where he tests our new paper shredder’s capabilities 🙄

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 31/03/2024 11:23

Largely chilling with a walk thrown in, if it’s not actually raining. Dds and families/partners are away.
Roast chicken and an Eve’s Pudding later (not lunchtime).
Dh started scoffing his Easter Egg while still in his dressing gown. He will later help me to eat mine.🐷

kαλοκαλοκαιρι · 31/03/2024 10:35

it’s not easter for another month or so here, but we are having a nice sunshine springtime walk and a roast anyway! i hope you all have a lovely day

Where are you that Easter is different? And why is it different? I thought Easter was the same time everywhere.

Beetlewings · 31/03/2024 11:38

I'm in bed with that hacking cough, hoping someone will go to the little Tesco for me and buy me lemsip and an Easter egg

BiddyPop · 31/03/2024 11:38

Currently relaxing in DMILs kitchen over a coffee while lamb quietly roasts for lunch and waiting for dd to come back from gym (she found one in her chain about 40 minutes away).

After lunch, pack up both cars - dog going back to our house with dd and all her gear (she had a training camp for 3 days before she arrived here last night - we arrived with dog on Friday).

Meanwhile, DH and I go on to my DPs and family, (pets not welcome so dd sacrificing herself on our behalf 🤣), where we will have lamb roast #2 for dinner.

House is full so we are in local hotel overnight. Will pack up again tomorrow to go back home - before I leave again on Wednesday as I am working overseas since November and only get home for a weekend once a month or so. DH coming with me for a 3 day trip so that will be nice.

Egg hunt set up for ds last night so he did that this morning. We do it every year, just a few miniature eggs and clues leading to the big cache of eggs at the end

He's eaten all together too much chocolate and he's showered so I'm next

Then another egg hunt with my parents at a national trust place this afternoon

Haven't decided on food yet!

OvertiredandConfused · 31/03/2024 11:45

Church, fancy four course “lunch”, including roast lamb, late afternoon, wine and something on TV

lovinglaughingliving · 31/03/2024 11:49

I've had a lie in since I've not slept for 4 days and nights. Slept a bit this morning thank god. Ds6&DS4 are just getting themselves dressed and we're going to the zoo, we'll have lunch there. Then home and playing board games and watching films this afternoon!

ToniTunes · 31/03/2024 11:49

Off to Tilbury Park in Crawley so my daughter can practice being a butterfly 😊burn off some energy before some chocolate eggs

GoodnightAdeline · 31/03/2024 11:51

DP in bed with a migraine. Have taken the kids for a walk and to a cafe for pancakes. Back now and will hopefully head to a local Easter trail after lunch if the weather holds. Happy Easter all

Where are you that Easter is different? And why is it different? I thought Easter was the same time everywhere.

I assume the poster is referring to Greek Orthodox Easter which is 5th May this year.

AuntieMarys · 31/03/2024 11:51

Washing was outside at 8am. Been for a 6 mile walk.
Dh is gardening and will be prepping harissa lamb to eat at 6.
I shall be drinking martinis and reading for the rest of the day!!

itsjustbiology · 31/03/2024 11:52

Going to visit my mum with my daughter.Home for a roast later and feet up in front of the tellybox. I love lazy days.

Inkypot · 31/03/2024 11:54

@ilovepixie I'm guessing @kαλοκαλοκαιρι is orthodox which would make Easter a May celebration this year for them.
🙏

Inkypot · 31/03/2024 11:54

I attended Easter vigil (Catholic) and today we're having a family day together.

A bit of gardening seeing as it’s not actually raining, and the forecast is grim for the rest of the week.

Me too!

Where you going shopping op??

Thought all shops close on Easter Sunday?

skippy67 · 31/03/2024 11:56

Going for a (slow!) run with DH in a bit. I recently completed couch to 5k, and I'm determined to start actually liking running. Then back home for a chicken roast, we don't eat lamb. Then watching the mighty Arsenal beat City (hopefully!)

Andnowshesatoddler · 31/03/2024 11:56

Our daughter is on a naptime I'm relaxing in the house that has already been tidied once today already and needs doing again. Beautiful chaos.
Meeting some friends for a play date later and then a beef dinner.

Lying by a pool in Cape Verde! 🇨🇻

what is the weather like? Is it really windy? Is the sea too choppy to swim in?

FizzyStream · 31/03/2024 11:59

Kids have done an egg hunt. Just been for a sunny walk in the local park/woods. Lamb is cooking in the oven for lunch. Watching the City v Arsenal match this afternoon and a long hot bath tonight.

MonkeyPuddle · 31/03/2024 12:01

DS is at his dads, DP and DD are sorting the garage and I’m putting the washing away from our holiday.
Will pop and see my mum later and then for tea at another family members.

hiredandsqueak · 31/03/2024 12:06

Adult dc, exh and grandson will be coming for a roast later. There will be an egg hunt for grandson and Easter eggs for everyone. I've made a chocolate cake and an apple pie for pudding so hopefully they will take the eggs home with them. Grandson usually brings a game or two so we will end up playing games after food.

JackGrealishsCalves · 31/03/2024 12:12

DS 18 came home from Uni last night and has just got up so a leisurely day, got an ultrasound at the hospital at 5.30 (yes I know, Easter Sunday at 5.30!), then out for a meal tonight

caringcarer · 31/03/2024 12:14

DH is retiring so we're having a little retirement party at our favourite Italian restaurant. 2.15pm. I've bought him a nice Tag Heuer watch.

ByKindOpalPoet · 31/03/2024 12:16

We’ve done a little Easter egg hunt around the house/garden for my 5 DD, we’ve also had breakfast with the Easter bunny and will be going to an Easter party this afternoon (£9 for both breakfast and the party and both include an Easter egg)
