at being suspicious that my neighbour has pinched my dd's comfort toy

dd started nursery last wekk and since then has been inseperable from a cuddly bunny. it was a gift from a friend when she was born. dd was holding it when we left the flat this morning but when we got to nursery - spot was gone. i retraced steps to car, heded straight home, checked the 50 paces we woudl have walked to the car and inside on teh starirwell. no sign. i knocked on teh neighbours doors to see if they had seen it. knocked on teh only flat with kids and enquired to be told no. then their dd walked to the door with a bunny that looked remarkably like spot. i said - it is exactly like that one, to be told that their dd had had it for years. now - i am suspicious as i know the original one was bought in finland and not commonly available over here. in my paranoid state i am mightily suspicious that they have got dd's comforter.
bar calling them liars and demanding it - i dont think there is much i can do. i have rang my friend to see if she reckons they are available to buy and she is trying to remember the name of the small craft shop in tampere finland where she got it!
arghhhh, annoyed at myself for not paying better heed to dd and spot in my haste and stress this morning.

My offer still stands to see what I have spare if anyone is in need...

cadelaide · 29/03/2008 15:01

You have to do what Disenchanted said.

You absolutely have to.

We're all waiting...............

CaptainDippy · 29/03/2008 19:23

I'm already baking cakes for the tea party

Glad Spot is back WO ..... your neighbour is a weirdo. Official.

MsPontipine · 29/03/2008 22:17

Have you read this?? It's a beautiful story. Brings tears to my eyes!

amytheearwaxbanisher · 29/03/2008 22:36

my poor dad dove fifty miles during the night after i left my favorite "freddy the fox"teddy in a holiday home because i was inconsolable[i was two and a half!]bless him

JellyNump · 29/03/2008 22:39

Can you offer to babysit for them perhaps? then while theyre out have a poke around and see if you can find it?

elkiedee · 30/03/2008 10:12

Amy, I hope Freddy was there after all that.

I once lost my teddy when we were out shopping (I was about 3) and then went to my dad's for the rest of the day. My poor dad tried buying a panda to comfort me who got left behind on Woodhouse Ridge (the way home between his house and where I lived with my mum). Fortunately my own beloved teddy was sitting on the TV at home with the new shoes that had also been left behind - my mum was able to find them.

hi folks. sorry i havent been on - we had some resettling to do with spot. i think the expereince has changed him, i suspect a touch of stockholm syndrome though dd is happy to work through it with him. i have put some pics of him on profile. an interesting photoshoot that proved to be!
i still havent braved dear neighbours to suggest a comforter meet up, a tea party or some pics. i am sure she is avoiding me - she usually just "happens" to be in teh stairwell as i come downstairs but not a sight nor sound of her since friday.
a guilty conscience methinks????

anyhow - thanks for all your ideas. i still have my eye on tose leggings for a rabbit suit!

oh meant to say - he is by "lammikko aikoa" - a wee finnish company i think.

MissHaversham · 31/03/2008 22:51

Oh I've never seen anything like that anywhere, they definitely nicked it!

colacubes · 31/03/2008 23:08

have to say i have enjoyed your banter, and am relieved spot has been returned unharmed.

MsPontipine · 01/04/2008 00:21

Love the pictures xx

SpiritualKnot · 01/04/2008 12:41

That's such an individual rabbit, there's no doubt that they nicked it and then returned it.

Next time lose one of these for them to find!

killer rabbit

arthursmum · 01/04/2008 15:15

I suggest micro-chipping Spot in case of another disappearance. Hope the Stockholm Syndrome is passing and he hasn't gone all Patty Hearst on you!

weeonion · 01/04/2008 20:49

i now want a killer rabbit. hmm - maybe she coudl have spot after all!

edam · 01/04/2008 20:55

Blimey wee, looking at your photos I can't believe your neighbour had the front to pretend it wasn't your dd's Spot! So glad he's home where he belongs.

BigGitHamsterKillingDad · 01/04/2008 20:58

saw the picture of the rabbit brilliant! pmsl!!
I'd love to have one for my kids it's so unique!

SparklyGothKat · 01/04/2008 21:03

asda???? my arse!! they so nicked it and then felt guilty..

unless she is a mnetter!!! and saw this thread

imaginewittynamehere · 01/04/2008 21:24

Glad to know spot is safe & sound. You know if your dd is getting really attached to him it might be a good idea to have a spare in reserve anyway??

weeonion · 01/04/2008 21:34

iwnh - you are right. if spot gets the wanderlust again - we might not be so lucky!i have taken to wearing soft toys up my jumper in an attempt to wean her onto them. attractive silhouette!

Eliza2 · 01/04/2008 21:39

Spot is unique. He's actually gorgeous. So's your little one, btw.

As for your neighbour... Can't you get us a photo of her, please?

RiaisMaLarkin · 01/04/2008 22:04

I am glad spot was found.

If Rabsy went missing my DS would be inconsolable - he's 11. Luckily DS2 doesn't give a monkeys about cuddly toys...

sussies · 01/04/2008 22:30

Spot WAS kidnapped!!!
He is so unusual, I have never seen one like that before .. ever.

weeonion · 01/04/2008 22:44

ok - i am going to lie in wait tomorrow for her to capture a pic. she looks like she has had a hard life.

OP posts:
arfishy · 02/04/2008 00:04

LOL! Spot was deffo nicked. I haven't seen a toy like that anywhere. I can't believe she had the gall to try to pull it off.

Love the euphemism 'she looks like she's had a hard life'. She sounds like something someone out of a Martina Cole novel.
