at being suspicious that my neighbour has pinched my dd's comfort toy

dd started nursery last wekk and since then has been inseperable from a cuddly bunny. it was a gift from a friend when she was born. dd was holding it when we left the flat this morning but when we got to nursery - spot was gone. i retraced steps to car, heded straight home, checked the 50 paces we woudl have walked to the car and inside on teh starirwell. no sign. i knocked on teh neighbours doors to see if they had seen it. knocked on teh only flat with kids and enquired to be told no. then their dd walked to the door with a bunny that looked remarkably like spot. i said - it is exactly like that one, to be told that their dd had had it for years. now - i am suspicious as i know the original one was bought in finland and not commonly available over here. in my paranoid state i am mightily suspicious that they have got dd's comforter.
bar calling them liars and demanding it - i dont think there is much i can do. i have rang my friend to see if she reckons they are available to buy and she is trying to remember the name of the small craft shop in tampere finland where she got it!
arghhhh, annoyed at myself for not paying better heed to dd and spot in my haste and stress this morning.

What a bitch horrid lady.

I feel a mn riot coming on.

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2008 16:38

lol at lying through her 3 teeth
tough one - what to do next

gscrym · 28/03/2008 16:39

Call in this guy, he might be able to help recover the bunny when no-one's looking.

weeonion · 28/03/2008 16:39

ok - her washing consists of some tea towels, 2 pairs of leggings, a pair of jeans and a pair of blue cords. maybe i should go get them, fashion an outfit to wear when i call down later??

I think you need to lower your DD into their garden through an upstairs window

she can grab the bunny and sink her teeth into anyone who tries to stop her

EffiePerine · 28/03/2008 16:42

you need a bun vac

arthursmum · 28/03/2008 16:44

Nick the washing, fashion the different pieces into toys for your daughter (the leggings could make a lovely pair of rabbit's ears) then proudly promenade them past at every opportunity.

weeonion · 28/03/2008 16:47

lol lol
it's all getting a bit mission impossible with lowering dd down to the washing line!

Dress as a police woman and tell her there is a bunny napper on the loose the bunny will need to go into witness protection. It can keep in touch with her DD via annual letters.

sonicdeathmonkey · 28/03/2008 16:51

When you next go round to have a look at the bunny, casually murmur as you're looking at the label "I'm so glad this isn't the one dd lost, she'd dropped it in a potty full of wee the night before and we were just off to the laundry/dry cleaners (depending on how posh you are)".

Then put up posters offering some ludicrously massive reward for the bunny and if she happens to 'find' it, take it with much thanks and explain the printing mistake on the posters.

benandalex · 28/03/2008 16:53

sonic i like that lol

what a cowbag stealing a little girls teddy x

arthursmum · 28/03/2008 16:54

I am LOL at the policewoman idea - utter genius! Do you have a burly male friend who could dress in a bunny costume and knock on neighbour's door. Perhaps use some sort of Grant Mitchell voice to say "I fink you go something of mine".

arthursmum · 28/03/2008 16:54

Got not go, for crying out loud. Who let this kid in here to knock my elbow?

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2008 16:57

lol at giant bunny
you need to look for an outfit from that film...erm...

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2008 16:58

donnie darko
also like the pot of wee idea but i think it has to be more foul - if people will stoop to stealing a baby's rabbit they're not going to be deterred by a bit of wee

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2008 17:01

oooh at the risk of being totally disgusting can you let her think you think you were conned when you bought it and you were sold it as a rampant rabbit. And you let her think it was a toy because the alternative was too embarrassing.
Or have I been drinking too much coffee again?

Bridie3 · 28/03/2008 17:10

Snorting tea on keyboard...

arthursmum · 28/03/2008 17:13

No, you'd never convince her it was a rampant rabbit, they are much sturdier and the ears are in completely the wrong place. I've heard. Through a friend. Its not mine!

angiebaby78 · 28/03/2008 17:18

arthursmum

arthursmum · 28/03/2008 17:35

Damn, I thought noone would see through my cunning subterfuge. Damn you typing diarrhoea fingers! Ew, thats an even worse image than before.

DragonFaerie · 28/03/2008 18:05

Any news weeonion??

I know it's only a rabbit but it's the principle of the thing, what kind of person abducts a LOs comforter....??

3NAB · 28/03/2008 19:09

Have you got any pictures?

I have some cuddly toys mine don't need anymore and I was going to see if any of them match to another child's lost toy/in need of spare one.

weeonion · 28/03/2008 19:56

sorry to be away for a while. there wasnt a b*h fight goign on in teh east end. i was getting dd sorted for bed and thought i woudl leave the next round until later as then neighbours dd woudl be home but dp has just got back from work. when he arrived at our buidling spot was sitting on the outside path. either she got a case of the guilts or someone else did or spot decided himself there is no place like home! he is bone dry so methinks he has spent the day indoors, not triapsing outside.
i still think she had him - and am pushing petty revenge options out of mind.
Your top tips were appreciated. thankfully i hadnt grabbed him and ran, fashioned a rabbit suit out of leggings or called in favours with burly blokes!

Yay! I'm so glad he's back Can you put a picture up? I want to see him!

I wanted to make eeyore my DS's comfort toy as he was easy to get back up ones in case we lost the original. But he's gone and picked the knitted rabbit made by an old lady which I suspect is a one off. They do like to choose the more difficult to replace ones don't they?

geordieminx · 28/03/2008 20:14

whoooooooooo hooooooooooooooo 2 lots of good news today!!!
