Baby hedgehog brought into rescue turns out to be the bobble from a hat.

It's a cute, mildly funny story but come on.

You're telling me whoever found it and put in a box didn't realise it wasn't a hedgehog?

Everyone knows hedgehogs are spikey, not furry.

It's a nice way for them to get their rescues name in the paper and hopefully get some donations!

But I feel like it's highly exaggerated 😂😂

Pom pom mistaken for a baby hedgehog

Rescued baby hedgehog turns out to be hat bobble

A wildlife rescue was handed the ornamental tuft by a well-intentioned rescuer.

Yeah, it's bollocks, isn't it?

SuperbOwls · 28/03/2024 13:45

I thought it was an April fools before realising it was a few days too early

BruFord · 28/03/2024 13:46

Tee hee, it’s ridiculous, but SO funny if it’s true. 🤣

coleslaweleanor · 28/03/2024 13:48

I had to take baby hedgehogs to a rescue centre last year.....it's total bollocks but the picture is funny fair play

Fridaypoolside · 28/03/2024 13:48

I think it’s true, when I worked in wildlife rescue someone very carefully handed over one of those spiky seed pods from a Plane tree thinking it was an abandoned baby hedgehog. They were 100% genuine, bless them…

FanofLeaves · 28/03/2024 13:50

Ha!! I KNEW this would be about that. No it’s just stupid. My mum has done similar before just for Facebook lols 🙄

Screamingabdabz · 28/03/2024 13:51

And it’s a blatant rip off of the Specsavers ad.

enchantedsquirrelwood · 28/03/2024 14:42

I think it was meant to be an April Fool's and was released early.

user1745 · 28/03/2024 15:37

At first glance I can totally see how the bobble might have been mistaken for a hedgehog, but I find it improbable that somebody would nurse it all night and not wonder why it never moved. Apart from anything else, there must be a noticeable difference in weight between a bobble and a baby hedgehog?

Exactly. Walking passed it you might do a double take but getting close up and getting it into a box you'd 100% know!

Well there's no accounting for stupid, so it's entirely possible in my view. There are some unbelievably idiotic people out there.

We don't all have perfect eye sight or perfect cognitive skills.

I don't care if it's true or not. It made be laugh so hard it hurt.

TheSnowyOwl · 28/03/2024 18:44

I agree with a PP and there are some incredibly stupid people out there…

ALongHardWinter · 28/03/2024 18:48

I heard this yesterday and although I thought it was quite funny,I did also think 'Really?'. Reminded me of that SpecSavers advert from a few years back, when the vet was trying to revive the vet nurse's furry hat, thinking it was a cat.

Dinnerlady12 · 28/03/2024 20:21

They were talking about this on one of the TV breakfast shows yesterday then they were reading out similar stories that people had emailed in. One of them was from a woman who rescued a hedgehog and took it to the vet the next morning only for the vet to tell her it was fruit loaf Hmm. I've definitely read that same story somewhere before and the way it was being read out sounded so fake. I don't believe anyone even emailed the story in I think the presenters found it online and pretended it was a viewer's story.
