To announce some good news

Okay, so this is unlikely to feature on the BBC this evening, but I am turning 50 very soon and have heard so many women say here that they stopped giving a fuck about being liked, pleasing people etc at around this age. This worried me as I continue to care about what people think of me, feel pain when I am not liked/included, wonder what I have done wrong. etc etc
But HARK: today in work I found out that for some time there has been a work group chat among my other colleagues where they share social things, jokes etc, and which I was never invited to join. And I waited after finding this out for the feelings of insecurity/self loathing to arise in me, and.............nothing! I don't give a fuck! I feel so liberated!! I may very well have reached the zero fucks to give threshold! Yayyyyyyyy!!!!! Really looking forward to the rest of my zero fucks life now! 😃😅😆

If you're ever chatting to your lawyer friends, tell them thank you. From me, and my daughter ❤️

Not GAF is truly liberating!
I stopped GAF many years ago and have merrily binned friends who ghosted me etc off.
I also use the word c**t quite often now and those that I disgust are ones I know I wouldn’t get on with and don’t GAF if they find it offensive.
I have a fabulous circle of friends who don’t GAF! It’s ace 👍

It's work. You have colleagues, they don't need to be friends. Glad we seem to share common views.

Whenever I’m presented with someone's “great idea” or some such rubbish about why XYZ would be “really fun” I’ve developed an impressive snort of derision, a shaking head and the words “Nah, that’s not happening / haha, I don’t think so / good luck with that” - or just a simple No.
One of these options will always work!👌
No one dies if you just refuse all this silly unnecessary shite that creeps into your life.

Another mum on the school run said to me this morning "ooo are you on the class/neighbourhood/curtain twitcher WhatsApp - have you seen whats been going on???" And I said "no".... and that.was.it.

I'm officially menopausal this week! 🎉🥳 It's amazing how relieved I feel that I'm past all that now - although I did get away with it reasonably lightly. I feel even stronger now no that hot flushes are past the worse now...

Someone once told me " the people who mind don't matter and the people who matter don't mind" I found that pretty liberating and subsequently absolutely true. People who genuinely care about me aren't offended by things I do or don't do - and I don't GAF about the rest.

Almost 37 and I can feel the giving of fucks slipping away with each passing year…it’s great. Didn’t have that many fucks to give to start with tbh. I love that I can now openly enjoy turning down any invitation that has a whiff of ‘organised fun’ (shudder) about it without giving a single shit about making up excuses. Can’t wait to hit 50 and join the DGAF big leagues 😁
