Time to yourself

Light-hearted one!

Husband plays football tournaments at the weekends occasionally. He is usually gone for the whole day as he plays several short games throughout the day, which leaves me to watch the kids.

Talking about Easter weekend, he says he would like a day to himself as it has been a manic few weeks for us. I say "well you do as you're at the tournament on Sunday". He replied "that's not time to myself, that's me being knackered for a day."

I think it does count as time to himself as it is time away from the family doing something he wants to do.

So AIBU?

I should note that I have no issue with him having a hobby, just disagree with his perception!

Bless his little cotton socks!!

If he's exhausted for a day & it's taking that much out of him,he needs to consider hanging up the boots and retiring. It's a young man's game these days!

Yep, you’re not BU I think technically that’s time to himself!

It’s time away, doing a hobby/leisure pursuit for the day.

My ex-MIL used to have “Me Days”, maybe you and he could build those into the schedule, too?

When's your day??

YANBU.

I am 100% on board with each parent having time without responsibility for the dc , to do with as they will. It is up to them if they choose to lie in / play football / volunteer / study / go and read a book in a cafe / meet friends / sunbathe / learn a new language / learn a new skill / swim / whatever.

But obviously, that is their choice of what they do with their "me time".

Ffs. YANBU at all. If little poppet needs 2 days off over the Easter weekend then you should have 2 days off too, assuming you both have all 4 days off…
