It's another parking one

I live in a terrace house. It's a normal street and no-one has any more rights to park than anyone else. I usually park outside my house and my husband parks his car down the side street around the corner. Or visa versa. When I park outside my house I either reverse around the corner or simply drive off depending how my car is facing. Sometimes neither of us can park there as its first come first served. But that's perfectly fine.
There is double yellows straight after where we park as its right near the end of the road.

That brings me to my parking issue. Just lately nearly every evening different cars are parking on the double yellows lines behind one of our cars. This means that we obviously can't reverse round the corner/or drive away as easily. They always parks incredibly close to our car and on occasions we have been trapped in. It also means that whoever is parked on the side street we have to go further forward than we would like at the junction so we can see past the car parking on the double yellows. Sometimes they are even over hanging across the junction. Night after night. Different people. My husband mentioned it to one of them once and she said I can park where I like. Aibu to be fed up of it? I'm st a loss what I should do

Most of the time we don't know who they are. He has mentioned it to others who ha e been equally rude or simply don't see the issue

Park further down the side street? Or somewhere else along the road you live in.

No reason why I shouldn't park outside my own house though. Surely it's the people parking on double yellow lines that wrong?

Take photos of them on the yellow lines with their number plate in clear view and upload it to your local council parking enforcement department, they will send the owner a parking ticket. Its surprisingly effective l found with the twatish neighbour who kept blocking the entrance to my street by parking his flatbed truck on the corner of our road blocking all access

I'm not sure who to report it to. I don't think our local council has anything like that

Report it to the council, it's their job to enforce it.

Luckycloverz · 25/03/2024 00:23

Look on your local council website, it's very likely they'll have traffic warden service you can report it to.
Every single time...

The latest mystery car is still there. Photos have been taken. I've just got to work out where to send them.

I have emailed the council. This is their response!

Not much you can do then really. Park further away from the car behind you I guess. Park right up to the yellow line and hope it puts on these nutters. Long term - move.

DinnaeFashYersel · 25/03/2024 08:59

If they are parking on double yellows take a photo and log with police (non emergency)

bestbefore · 25/03/2024 09:01

Keep reporting them. The council will send someone out eventually and ticket any there. Might stop them!

Pleasehelpmefindagoodusername · 25/03/2024 09:02

I never park there if they are parking on double yellows already. So I park outside my house and they then park behind me on double yellows. The car has finally gone

They usually park there in the evening. Traffic wardens never come out then

Start letting the air out of their tyres.

At our Council you can report things like this through the 'Love Clean Streets' App. You could check to see if your Council is signed up.
