Which job??

Have another post up asking for interview advice. This is a slightly different situation, asking for advice on which job you'd take?

1.) In a small school for 2 years, working year round but potential to be TTO. Current pay £31k. Pay progression isn't really going to go past £37 k most likely. What is keeping me is that it MAY be TTO at some point and I have a near 4yo. What is making me leave is that there is no maternity pay other than 6 weeks. In my previous roles (LA) it was full Mat pay more or less. This is my current role.

  1. NHS job band 6 - 35-42k. High stress team but very good experience for my line of work and obvs no hope of TTO most likely. They offer good mat pay and I would be looking to have another child in next 2/3 years. They offer the specific training for my next step progression and I imagine this is funded by them. Similar area of work (children)

I'm highly qualified for both roles - have an MA also in a very relevant area to both.

I can't decide - I love my current job and the young people I work with, but thinking of career prospects and money.

Sounds like you want the nhs job. So go for that one.

I'm torn because what I really want is both 😭 but obviously I can't have both

Bump! Would be good to know what others would do in my position? I fear it's a case of head versus heart at the moment

NHS job sounds better overall, especially the mat leave if you’d qualify for it in terms of length of service etc.

Are pensions similar?

NHS job

Pensions much better NHS job, hadn't even considered that aspect.
