Background: I put in a complaint about my manager for a series of poor decisions against company policy. My manager then tried to blame me for this! I had evidence showing otherwise.

Situation: My manager and I are based in different countries and never see each other in person. But a trip has been booked in where I’ll be with him all day for 2 days.

aibu to send a message to my manager’s manager to state, I don’t feel comfortable going due to the tense relationship with my manager?

(I don’t feel my concerns have been addressed and it’s like my only option out is finding a new job anyway)

I don’t think you need to include the bit about looking for a new job

did you raise a formal complaint? Did they follow procedure? What happened when you showed them the evidence you had? What was the outcome?

@PickledPurplePickle i initially raised concerns with my manager who tried to pin it on me, so I went to his manager and showed evidence. Now it seems they’re no longer trying to blame me but nothing has happened to my manager. So essentially nothing has happened

Why didn’t you raise it as a formal grievance?

how have things been with your manager since?

I don’t think you can refuse to go if it’s part of your role and required to do your job, just because you had a disagreement with your manager

@PickledPurplePickle this has all happened literally in the last 2 weeks, I still have the option of raising a grievance which I’m considering. The problem is a lot of what has been discussed was verbally so I need a paper trail. This trip isn’t part of my role or required to do my job - it’s the first of its sort and others also couldn’t attend. I’m just struggling to think of an excuse to get out of going, which is why I was going to be honest?

but happy to use a good excuse
