Does this need minor injuries

DS ran into a football post. Has the start of a cracking black eye. No dizziness / vision issues / vomiting but very swollen eyelid. Remained in school all day, ate lunch as normal. No headache.

Would you go to minor injuries or just watch?

What age? Can he tell you what he feels?

Tenderness around the bones of the eye and cheek I'd want to get looked so. DH had a fractured eye socket (only a tiny break!) with similar bruise markings, but he had pain to touch lower under the eye than the bruising. If that makes sense.

I would phone 111, they will go through the head injury checklist with you and advise on whether you need to go to minor injuries/ a and e. I had a similar sounding injury last year and they went through the list, advised me to take it easy, a and e not necessary and organised for a GP to phone me back later in the day to check on me. because he's a child they might ant to err on the side of caution.
