To think that One Born Every Minute was just a platform for obnoxious men to put women down?

I've watched a few episodes over the past week. Yes, it was a very popular show of it's time but one thing that jumps out to me is that probably 75% of the dads were just obnoxious, taking the piss out of their partners in labour and putting their own needs first.

One episode in particular had a (very ugly!) man taking the piss out of the noises his wife made and saying it sounded like she was singing 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight'

Even worse, the midwife was chuckling away and thinking he was hilarious.

Awful!

I saw a few episodes years ago - what struck me was how patronising the hospital staff were to the women in labour. As if they'd reverted to the mental age of six when their contractions started. I don't know how the women refrained from telling them to fuck off.

I remember my friend from NCT saying when she was undergoing contractions, the midwife was appalling, rude and dismissive and patronising. My friend said she couldn't speak from the labour, so attempted to show simply through glaring with her eyes the complex message "If I was in full command of my powers here I would fucking take you apart"
