Dd headaches

My dd is 4 and the last month has been complaining of headaches. She will point to the front of her head just above her nose and eyes and say it is sore then five mins later it's away. Not every day but a couple of times a week never for longer than a few minutes (but sometimes she'll say it a few times a day). She has had a viral cold and cough the last few weeks so I was thinking sinuses.

on Thursday morning she complained of a sore belly and threw up. Then was fine no mention of headache and yesterday she was fine. This morning however around 4am she woke up and vomitted she has also had two bouts of diaherrea this morning and another vomit. Briefly said her head was sore at 11am for five mins then it was gone.

i have real health anxiety so DH keeps telling me to calm down it's a bug. Should I bring her to a and e because of the headache and now the vomitting? Of is this just the bug going around atm

Dial 111 ask their advice, you have to answer a lot of questions for them to ascertain what to do next but they'll point you in the right direction, don't take any risks with your little one who can't explain it herself x

I would definitely get her looked at - can you get an out of hours GP appointment?

It's probably a bug but best to make sure.

Sunshinelollipops78 · 16/03/2024 14:29

I spoke to GP about her headaches he said it was nothing concerning as she seems very well within herself. It's this vomitting now but the v&d together makes me think bug

I was going to bring her to a and e today when she vomitted but then the diaherrea started I thought no Just a bug now I'm worried I'm missing something

Eye test?

Sunshinelollipops78 · 16/03/2024 14:54

Have one booked in but not for another two weeks she doesn't complain about her vision at all

My DD had headaches and D&V with Covid. No cough / sort throat but did develop a bit of a temp. The presence of diarrhoea as well as vomiting suggests it's likely to be a bug, but talk to your GP if you're worried.

She doesn’t know any different though. It’s definitely something to tick off anyway.

I will tick it off I was meant to bring her today but they cancelled it yesterday because she's under six and needs her eyes dilated so has to be a double appointment

Okie dokes, I hope her headaches resolve soon bless her. Silly question but how is her water intake?

manipulatrice · 16/03/2024 15:33

Does she have any food issues?

I have coeliacs and it presents with a headache.
Pre diagnosis after a few days of the on off headaches I would throw up and have a tummy ache.

Hope she feels better soon.

CourtneyB123 · 16/03/2024 15:34

If it's any consolation I have just got over a bug I originally thought was norovirus but was accompanied with such a terrible headache I thought I was having a stroke, this has been over the period of two weeks and I'm feeling much better so I think it's probably a virus but you're doing the right thing getting her checked out anyway all the best x

I also have health anxiety and my daughter has had a few episodes of head aches, once accompanied by vomiting and I panicked a bit too. I took her to the GP who did an exam and said she was fine. She also had an eye check, also fine. I think the headache could have been caused by dehydration from vomiting. I wouldn't take her to A&E as the diarrhoea also suggests it's a bug but maybe take her to the GP if she still has headaches and vomitting next week.

They would look for other symptoms before any further investigation like blurred vision and dizziness. Also a headache when lying down or first thing in the morning is a cause for concern.

I am half way through a CBT course with NHS Living Life and it's really helped my health anxiety. Have you tried anything like that?

Sunshinelollipops78 · 16/03/2024 16:53

I spoke to her teacher yesterday and mentioned them and she said she never complains in nursery. She doesn't complain when we are out and about either or in other peoples houses except my mums two or three times but she has said once she mentions it it's away again.

i had noticed this week she wasn't drinking anything out of her water bottle for nursery so made sure the child minder gave her extra drinks when she picked her up and I do think that helped wed thurs and Friday this week as there was no headaches mentioned
