TV Remote control

Bit light hearted.

Is it only my DH that seems to commandeer the TV remote?
Bad enough on its own but then he gets comfy and starts dozing off with it tucked out of reach leaving me sat there watching football, shed & buried or the like. Not wanting to keep getting up and having to hunt out the remote I've just downloaded an app onto my phone and now have full control whenever I want.

AIBU watching DH looking flummoxed thinking the TV has a mind of it's own when it's me sat there turning the TV over?

Shed and Buried is excellent.

As I read your post, I was wondering why you hadn't just downloaded a remote control app, but then saw you had, so all sorted.

Brilliant. I did this a while back!! And didn’t tell my OH for ages. The look of confusion was too funny!! After a while he worked it out. My teenage daughter however hasn’t yet, so I’m still enjoying her puzzled look everytime she “tries” taking over the tv, when it’s rarely in my control!!!!

How do I do this?

Look in your phone's app store for your TV manufacturer's remote.

Most TV manufacturers have an app. LG and Samsung definitely do as I have them. There may also be a universal. Depends on the age of your TV though.

This is amazing.
We have had incidents where various children have walked off absent-mindedly with the remote.

Or it has got under the recliner sofa that I won't lift on my own.

My life will be changed with this information.

Thanks mumsnet😀😀😀

My DH does normally have control of the remote... Or rather remotes! We have 3 or 4 and since I have never had control of them I have no idea which to use for what etc.
We have a remote that came with the television, which doesn't ever seen to be used. We have a Sky remote. We have an Amazon Fire stick and I think there is another one as well. For some the HDMI channel selector thing has to be used, but I don't know for which, or which remote does that. It makes me so cross!
I am a perfectly capable person if I am left to my own devices to learn how things work, but I've never been given the opportunity to do that.
