I can't tell if this is genius or I've lost my mind.

I sell on eBay. One of the things I sell is (new, unopened) period underwear- Modibodi etc. (I know there is an eBay thing with men who are into women's pants, shoes etc fetishistically buying on eBay and sellers selling these items with lurid descriptions etc - but that's clearly not me.)

Anyway - for the past week or so I've been getting increasingly, er, excited messages from one chap asking for more info about the item. I've ignored. It's along the lines of "I was wondering how high the pad rises at the front? I was looking at these to catch my unfortunate dribbles ( i am small lol] and the panties looked very nice."

Anyway - matey has ordered them now. Which means I have his full name and address. It's on an RAF base.

AIBU to accidentally send a copy of his messages to whoever opens the post at RAF bases?

That's awful! So you would open him up to bullying, teasing, having a hard time for a private fetish he has got.

Why am I obliged to tolerate x number of sexual messages from the guy in the name of his private fetish?

But you're prepared to take his money?

You still sold to him though!

It’s eBay. I haven’t pressed a button saying “Sell to Steve”; he has hit Buy, and bought.

You should have blocked him.
If you're happy to take the money from the sale, then it is wrong to involve his employer.

Yeah, because you didn't block him.

You were prepared to tolerate his messages in exchange for a sale.

I don't therefore see how you can complain.

KaySam · 13/03/2024 08:17

You were happy to take his money, you could have blocked him.
now you’ve got the money you want to cause some issues with his employer.

membershipplease · 13/03/2024 08:20

Cancel the sale then OP, Ms Righteous.

I don’t see what he’s done wrong. You’ve not explained enough of the messages to even make me think he was sexually trying something.

I am also not sure on the legality of what you’re attempting. You’re using someone’s personal data for different means than what they intended - that’s got to be illegal.

You don’t deserve your shop, you don’t deserve to do well. I hope the business gets closed down. Shameful behaviour.

Sparklesocks · 13/03/2024 08:23

You happily took his money so I don’t think you have the moral high ground. Yes it’s icky but I don’t see why you’d want to get him in trouble.

It's hardly a private fetish when he tried to involve the OP in it without her consent. Sending 9 messages including ones talking about his dick is perverted.

Sleepygrumpyanddopey · 13/03/2024 08:37

Creepy and unsettling on both sides. You should have shut him down, reported and blocked as soon as you cottoned on to what he was doing. He shouldn't have sought to get his kicks in this way.

What you're proposing to do, while highly tempting and I'd be internally wanting to do the same, is only going to create backlash on you.

Ghentsummer · 13/03/2024 08:45

I'm really surprised by the responses to this. No, I don't agree with sending his messages to his work (I would actually send them to the police). But its disappointing so many people think this man's actions are OK. He has sent a woman multiple unsolicited messages including talking about his penis. If he solely had a fetish about women's underwear he would have just bought a pair. He clearly also gets his kicks from involving women without their consent. It's not unusual for this to be the start of more overt sexual harassment towards women.

You aren't. Theres a block function, which you chose to ignore. This is one of the most unreasonable things I've seen on here.

Nobody is saying its okay. What they're saying is its not illegal. What exactly do you think the police will do?

Op could have immediately solved the problem by blocking him. She chose not to, to get the sale.

Should he be doing it? No. Does op have a right to ruin his life? Also no.

Kelly51 · 13/03/2024 08:58

The police? seriously? what exactly was sexual in his messages?
It's none of your business why he's buying them, I'm sorry OP you're being nasty.

LakeTiticaca · 13/03/2024 09:22

He's in the RAF not prison. He will open his own mail.
He's not exactly abducting toddlers is he
Get over yourself

Whaleandsnail6 · 13/03/2024 09:30

You could have blocked him and reported him before he made a purchase or cancelled the purchase when he made it.

You seem to be acting with glee at the thought of exposing his messages, but happy to take his money.

Either cancel the sale with an explanation of why and continue to report his messages to ebay and block him or send him the pants with no further comment or communication and then block him

Well you did tolerate them until you got his money. If what he did is so disgusting what does it make you, the person making money out of it?
