Local pool, I arrive for DDs lesson, bang on time aka 5 mins late, all spaces bar a few taken, one right by the entrance and few right on the other side of the car park. One right be the entrance the other car has parked very close to the line. Parked up in said space, managed to get in and out fine, parked in the middle of the bay (as you do) so enough space. Ran to lessons.

thought no more of it.

come out and see a woman, the owner of the car that parked on the line, shouting about how someone has parked next to her. Dd said she saw her kicking the car wheel (tyre) too. I walked up. She was passively aggressively shouting to a Friend a few spaces a way that some bitch (actual words) parked next to her. I asked her to please refrain from talking about me like that, and she said that when she arrived no one was parked there. I reminded her that it is a car park and that she had parked on the line not me. She went off that she couldn’t get into her car and how if I was still in the pool she’d be stuck and unable to get medicine for her child so I needed to shut up hurry up and go. I hate confrontation and my child is only just 4, so was a bit scared, saying why’s that lady shouting at me etc. The woman proceeded to then call me a dumb bitch. After buckling my daughter in to her car seat I asked her to not swear like that in front of such young kids.

just wanted to check if I’m in the wrong because she was so angry at me and I felt like I did nothing wrong

She sounds like a twat. Don’t give her anymore headspace

Bluestarling · 09/03/2024 15:45

Yep. Nutjob central there. Best ignored like you did.

nervousnelllie · 09/03/2024 15:47

But that’s worrying me was when i was le wifi I comfortably got in my car (tbh she could’ve got in her car too so the fuss was over nothing). I reversed out and then she walked into the nose of my car. It was a very odd interaction and I’m not sure if her walking into the nose was to attempt to try something later. I called the pool and they’ve got cctv in any case.

You know you’re not in the wrong. You parked correctly in a designated space. She can’t expect no one to park next to her just because she thinks she’s entitled to two spaces.

You are right but it was how angry she was and she did not like my pointing out that actually she parked close to the line not me and if there’s enough room for me, there is for her. It’s the walking into the nose of my car as I was leaving that’s worried me a bit, you never know what some people are like

She walked into the front of your car? To make it look like you ran into her you mean 🤷

I mean she couldn’t have really made it look like I ran into her logically as I was going backward but that is my worry yeah.

but for context, when I started reversing she was standing by the boot of her own car, and then when I was almost out she came storming past and again despite their being space walked into the nose of my car

^ hit send too soon but yes I’m wondering if it was done to make it look like I hit her

Ahem…it is I.

You are more restrained than I. I’d have told her as I drove away that she needed to learn to park properly then she wouldn’t have such issues. Don’t let her rattle you, some people are just arses.

Untethered · 09/03/2024 15:56

She sounds like a nut job. Imagine how miserable her life is.

I would have given her both barrels but I understand why you just wanted to get away from her.

TillieAnn1945 · 09/03/2024 15:58

She could have entered her car via the passenger side.

Kelly51 · 09/03/2024 15:58

You'd think her car only had one door the way she carried on, worse case scenario she climbs across from
passenger side

UseItOrloseItt · 09/03/2024 15:59

I'd have sat in my car and happily waited for an apology before I agreed to move.

Haha too funny

I doubt she even thought that far ahead. Probably just posturing. But she does sounds completely nuts. Most likely outcome is you will never see her again. But I hate unpleasant encounters like this. I do think think though - given her behaviour - you did right by not extending the encounter or shouting something rude at her as you left. It's just not worth it. Don't worry now. Have a glass of wine and enjoy your Saturday evening 🙂

She said her child was insulin dependent and I was preventing the child from getting their meds. I did think if it’s that time critical that the time it took me to put my child in a car seat and reverse the car was too long she should bring it with her, but I didn’t want to potentially cause harm to the kid or else I might’ve moved very very slowly

I think she was trying to intimidate you.

She was in the wrong, not you. Like a PP said - I wouldn't give it anymore headspace.

WhatYouWearing · 09/03/2024 16:03

Could she have got in the passenger side? I'd have walked away and videoed her on my phone until she'd fucked off. Just to stop me losing my temper mind!

Pushtart · 09/03/2024 16:05

You were not in the wrong! That is awful when someone yells at you in public but its always best to walk away, quickly. Someone called my husband a fucking arsehole in the supermarket the other day and we didn't even know why!

Thing is she could’ve even got in from her side as I managed to get in fine and strap a rod into a rf car seat.

the other side was by a tree too so she could’ve squeezed in there just like you said but she preferred a public meltdown

Is there anything more satisfying than when someone has parked in a space on or over the line - you park slap bang in the middle of the space next to it, as you should, whether forward or reverse just so that your driver side has space to get out but theirs don't have space to get in. 😈😅
