Husband gets you a gift for birthday. Handed in the packaging it came in the post.

No gift wrap / bag.

Just in the wrapping from the courier, not opened yet

I wouldn't mind but if you would then that's also fine and he should know this, remove the item and wrap it for you.

It's about doing what other person would want. If you do that - whatever it is - then you're golden.

On the strength of this thread I've just asked my old man if he's got me a mothers days present. He said yes....... me! Which is just fine, Mother's Day is but one annual event (Valentines, Father's Day etc) concocted to make people spend money. What really counts is how we treat each other from day to day. No, he doesn't buy me crap for Mother's Day. But he'll often buy me things when he sees something he thinks I'll like, and he'll give them to me straight away, not waiting for conventional gift days.

It wouldn't annoy me because I do the same thing..

Obviously we wrap the DC presents, but for each other we tend not to bother.

I will add though that I don't have to choose the my own gift, DH can do that himself!

At a bare minimum you surely open it to check the contents are correct?

For a child’s toy from Santa that will want to be played with on Xmas day… absolutely.
For a grown arse adult that need have no drama on the very rare occasion that it’s wrong, damaged or broken… not so much!

Neither my husband nor I would see any point in wrapping something already known to the other person. Even without cost and environmental concerns, we’d both find it odd to hand you a gift wrapped item to see the wrapping in the bin in just one minute.

You sound very ungrateful, it wouldn’t bother me at all.

She sent him a link to something she wanted and he just handed the package to her- she might as well have got it herself for all the effort he’s put into this! Not ungrateful in the slightest imo.
